This is comical xD

You obviously think you know what a DDoS is, but in reality have absolutely no idea what you are talking about other than,
"ItS jUsT jUnK tRaFfIc, WhY cAn'T tHeY fIx It"
Whats comical is that I actually do know and so too does other ISP's that formulated an effective mitigation strategy.
This isn't quantum physics bud - now that shites complicated.

I'm on openserve, suggestions for a good backup option that's quick to get going? Assume it will be hard to do now on a Sunday though

What would be great is if the ISP can agree to have a fail over to other ISP that are not effected by such a massive attack. That way when CI are under attack or any of the other ISP’s then at least you are not seeing a departure of client, but rather give us a option to quickly switch over. Just a thought. Really tuff situation. I was part of a massive DDOS in 2006 and I can appreciate the complexity of such attacks. Thanks for the hard work Coolideas.

The sad reality is that I doubt that CI can withstand much more of this.

People will move to another provider making the CI business unsustainable.

Just FYI, I set up OpenVPN on an Azure Linux box (SA DCs) and connected all my devices there. Internet is perfect. If we're in this for the long haul this works... for now.

Could you please share detail on this setup? Steps to setup + total cost?

It works for a bit, then doesnt work for a much longer period - rinse and repeat... Never mind my wallets that are not syncing and my mining that is getting 20% of what I get when everything is working fine... I am losing real money with this issue.

If internet access becomes a business necessity then you need to have a failover connection in place to automatiicaly switch to.

Blaming any ISP for losing access for any reason is a fools game

A few people may move but it will hardly make the ISP unsustainable.

Of course not, but when people google CISP they might come across this thread and choose not to sign up in the first place.

Vumatel is busy digging up another part of town and someone asked me what ISP they should go for, I told them to look somewhere else than CISP.

It is sad that they might, in the long term, take the fall for what another business did to them, but they are not handling it properly. And I think that's what people are more upset about.

Not the down time, but how they are dealing with the down time is what is pissing people off.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...
We all know that saying.

While I am no longer with CI, I find it incredible how the die hard fanboys are actually willing to part with their hard earned cash for unusable internet. As has been mentioned, this is not the first time. How do you fanboys not learn? Wake up! Stop protecting a ISP that cannot deliver.

Vote with your wallet. That’s what I did and I have had absolutely no issues and I am as happy as can be. The minute my current ISP fails to resolve issues like this, I’ll move in an instant. I have no loyalty to any ISP. I’ll go with what works best.

I’ll never understand this loyalty towards a service provider.

I have unfortunately after a long time with CI, sent my cancellation mail. I cannot continue to pay for an unusable service.
