Because 1) they are clearly not affected as badly because it's not their network that's being targeted or 2) they have a better solution. Unless you know some insiders at CI or some of the other ISPs, we'll never know exactly what the answer is. If you do know people and can provide us with an exact answer, that would be great.

I don’t have an answer for you. I came here to understand the loyalty of some of the users here and at what point will they say enough is enough. They and you are paying money for this.

I also came here to say that CI isn’t the be all and end all. There are other ISP’s, that’s the beauty. And if your provider doesn’t give many choices, surely there are better choices? And then again, if not, then I feel very bad for those users that this is the best they can get.

Again Im confused with your attempted analogy.

Eskom is a monopoly, we have no choice but to eat their sht. Trying to equate CISP with ESKOM assuming that if CISP have issues people just have to accept it is narrow minded.

Back in the day with Telkom controlling ADSL as the only ISP that would have been a closer analogy and one that we just had to accept but these days we have quite a few choices that if one network is just constantly having problem you can make the chance unlike with your ESKOM analogy.

Your words:

Please tell us all who will remain on a service that doesn't resolve issues like this and just have to be told over and over to have patience. I would love to know of this secret society.

You never stated the other criteria you are now bringing up. Eskom doesn't resolve issues like this and frequently tells us over and over to have patience. Pretty much everything in government is the same yet people are still here. Despite the fact that plenty of people on this forum can afford to "switch" to another country, they don't. There are plenty of examples in South Africa. Pick whichever one makes your heart happy.

But getting back to the original point. People who want to leave, will leave. People who want to stay, will stay. What I don't understand is people poking around in this thread when they are clearly no longer a customer, or who are aware of the problem but keep on spamming here thinking that it's somehow going to fix it.

Cool. Are you going to post this on every single page? Because that's what it looks like you're doing.

Jesus reaching a bit are we ? Of course I was referencing other ISP's.

Why didn't you over reach into the realm of religion while you were at it ?

It doesn't take a genius to understand that I was referencing other ISP's or worse case other services where we have choices. Bringing up a monopoly as your example is just deliberately stupid.

Drawing any analogy between Monopolies vs Free Market options instantly disqualified you from making any argument but I am sure you are smart enough to have known that.

Now for the cherry on top, People are still in SA and dealing with the SOE BS because guess what it is not an easy option to just leave the country to get away from the governmental BS compared to looking for a different ISP.

May I ask why supersonic? What is your attraction to them?

Only because I use MTN as my mobile provider and never have any connectivity issues or limitations in the sites I can access. So my logic is saying that if Supersonic is MTN's version of Fibre, that I will get a similar service. I know they were DDOS'd but from the reading I did it seems like they handled it better than CISP is able to. I'll give CISP one more chance but the next time this BS hits me for a weekend I am off. As of now I'm paying close attention to the performance and feedback of other ISP's on this forum to see whos performing and whos not.

My connectivity at the moment is the most functional since the DDoS. Hoping for it to stabilise from hereon forward.

My VPN is definitely flaky on CISP.

So Supersonic was attacked yesterday too, but managed to resolve it quite quickly?

The one-month calendar notice is quite annoying. I've applied for a cancellation and can't get out quick enough. All of my family and friends have had no issues on various other providers (Cell-C and Vox). @PBCool Better get your excuses in order. I hope more people leave them so that they learn to be better and actually provide a usable service.

Oh excuse me for quoting what TheRodent posted in here himself. I guess his ~500Gbit actually means 350Gbit because we use a different numeric system in this fantasy world.
No need to be an ass, I was checking the news article, not reading this thread for every single update. Regardless my point still stands, similar attacks have occurred this year already. Who knows why Cool Ideas is getting targeted, maybe South Africa has been highlighted as a easy attack target, or Cool Ideas has been show to have bad DDOS protections/mitigation's in place, or god knows what else.

Point is, no need to throw out wild conspiracy theories. If it was just a screw up on their side then would likely have said so, as the reputation loss would actually be lower then what is occurring now.

Edit: Reading through this thread is confusing, why are so many people making excuses for Cool Ideas? Some even say to go and do something else, excuse me, if you pay for a service and that service has a major interruption (and make no mistake, this does qualify as one) then you are well within your rights to air your grievances. Sure, no need to be a ass about it, and I'm sure they are trying the best they can to fix the issue, but the point it, something you are paying for is broken.

@TheRoDent @PBCool Where do I cancel on the online portal? And how quick can my line be released?

Having gone through the process last month, (a) You can't cancel online, you have to email them, and (b) line release is at the end of the month after you cancel. So if you cancel on Monday, line release should be end of Dec.

if you pay for the next month upon cancelling they will release your line, then you can move tomorrow.

Ok but I give a fsck about functional internet for the price I pay. I also get the support I need when I need it, although I haven’t really needed support because things just work for me.

It’s all good and well to have a hobby. My hobby is guitar, love playing and learning. I could also easily just go do that when my internet breaks. But I still pay R1500 for my internet and I expect it to work when I want it to work, which is pretty much all the time. I have family members that also use the internet and it’s not fair to them to suffer and when they complain to me just to shrug it off and say oh well just need to be patient.

Maybe this is your problem? You don't know how to deal with things when they go broken? It happens in many different aspects of life.

Actually, it seems like you came here just to test the loyalty of CISP's customers. Almost like you are part of the attack on them.

Yes but my point was simply that long lasting DDOS attacks does not run at such high traffic, they run longer but nowhere close to what CISP is claiming at 500Gbit. The only way this is possible is if someone at CISP stole some other nerd girlfriend and this is a personal attack where said nerd is retaliating with the entire internet as his botnet.

All fantasy.

Because us nerds don't have girlfriends?
