@Splinter who clearly must be some paid Cool Ideas fan boy...please stop pm'ing me. You sound pathetic and stupid. Whomever is the admin on this thread clearly needs to intervene. Like I said im cancelling my account..and that was hours ago. Splinter needs xmas monies ...clearly Cool Ideas sponsors him ;)

Huh? I sent one pm. And it was a simple question.

And my pm did not deserve any of your insults.

And you post making silly comments and accusations? I dont take kindly. This thread is titled a feedback thread. I came here earlier out of sheer frustration about the ongoing issues in relation to my 2 lines with Cool Ideas, my issues are not limited to this weekend. I came here since their call center cannot and has not resolved my issues after reporting the same over a period of months. I pay money to this ISP for service..and I made my mind up hours ago to move off Cool ideas and stopped posting. I did give them many chances to rectify and Ive decided to move along elsewhere.

How much would it cost?
Ive googled this was one of the replies
The DDoS attacks continue to be a profitable business in the cyber criminal underground. Powering a DDoS attack against an organization is even cheaper, running an attack can cost as little as $7 an hour, while a targeted DDoS against a company can cost up to thousands or millions of dollars.

My 50mbps fibre went to 10mbps max on Thursday night. They can't seem to fix it, or maybe don't want to since I am in my last week with them. Getting no further replies from them after sending the speed test via lan they kept requesting even though I know it is not the wifi at fault. I don't know if this is because of the attack because there is no communication from their support and I can't reach them on their support line. Can someone please advise if I must just wait it out? Is it supposed to be this way? Must say glad I am leaving though and hope the new ISP can deliver

Do you have a ticket number for me? With the DDoS this creates a few thousand tickets.

Is it posible to swop "highways" , reroute your traffic, or would the ddos attackers just start attacking your new route ?
IP based so doesn't matter which highway, the DDoS then routes via whichever highway you announce with. Or highways.

Im starting to think CI was the actual target , some of the other isp who suffered from ddos was just "bystanders" that is why they could have mitigated it by switching highways.

Based on all the old accounts suddenly becoming active to diss CISP, I am of the same opinion.

With the DDoS attack that we read about on Afrihost the attack was aimed at Liquid Telecoms. Afrihost uses Liquid Telecoms for Transit so when Liquid gets attacked Afrihost clients suffer. Afrihost has "changed roads" today so they switched transit from Liquid to Telkom. So if Liquid Telecoms gets hit with a DDoS Afrihost won't be affected.

If the attack is on your IP range changing the road will not help because it will just use net new road to attack you.

This is what I have been asking myself. Who stands to gain most from their rise to prominence. There is only one or two ISPs that come to mind. I ain't going to name any, but CISP hurt a prominent player not too long back.

For what it's worth, I am hanging with CISP for a while yet. Their business model still works for me.

Well I would guess a IP based DDoS is pretty clear who the target is. If they were attacking the transit provider Cool Ideas will switch transit and problem solved like in the Afrihost DDoS case. Attack was on their transit provider now they switched to Telkom problem solved until their IP ranges get attacked.

It strikes me like how some big banks got rid of smaller banks many years ago.

CISP is an upstart that is shaking the industry. Good for them. Lot's of folks complain about monopolies here. Well, this is your time to stand up to an obvious attempt to get rid of CISP.
