Howzit guys...

I'm battling with Whatsapp (and random other international, like Gmail) right now... I see it's routing via Brazil for Whatsapp in particular.

Please do the same for the PUBG traffic.
Can confirm that Solo PUBG is hitting Brazil. I am hoping when i hop on later with a mate that matches EU that i route properly.

Last night 300 Ping was rough...

Hope so, but that doesn't seem to work anymore after the DDOS. Even if a non CISP player invite you to his game you still route via Brazil.

The only way I can play on a decent ping is to VPN now. Then with Decent I'm referring to +-200ms

@PBCool @TheRoDent can you please for the love of Christ look into these EU routing issues? Since Saturday my EU ping has been 40ms higher. I’m loyal but not this much.

Want to play anything with an EU server? Not a chance.

Just want to share with everyone how piss poor CISP is. I am in my 30 day period which I paid on time like every prior month. I am on a 50/50 package with them but since last week Thursday my speeds are being limited to 10/10 for some unknown reason. I have sent three follow up emails to the ticket, called two times where my ticket was 'escalated'. Last time I was told that they can't open my ticket? WTF? If you got email you can open it unless you work at CISP but can't open an email message. In desperation I even reached out on two occasions on this forum. But again nothing happens. It is now two days to go to the end of my 30 day period, good riddance, but I just thought I would let everyone know that this is how important you are to this company as a client. Absolutely pathetic. And then they even have the audacity to send emails asking me why I want to leave. I will never recommend this company to anyone. Lost all my respect for them, was leaving because I cannot deal with the unstable internet since the DDOS attacks started. Now I feel about them the same way I feel about Telkom. Thieves!

Something still not lekker...

Code:
 ./speedtest.py
Retrieving speedtest.net configuration...
Cannot retrieve speedtest configuration
ERROR: <urlopen error [Errno -3] Temporary failure in name resolution>

Running speedtest ( rpm from speedtest.net ) also errors.

Code:

[2019-11-27 18:12:22.525] [error] Configuration - Couldn't resolve host name (HostNotFoundException)

Both were returning results prior to the DDOS....
Wondering if their is not still some DNS traffic filtering going on thats the issue.

If i set DNS to 8.8.8.8 then both work / return results:

Code:

So, that was related to a DNS issue as per your post. If you "nslookup cli.speedtest.net 154.0.1.1" does it give you a proper result ?

Yea, while I can understand there are benefits to having the lower ping to Brazil, for gaming it's a complete mess because of time zone differences. Pretty much all my games are defaulting me to Brazil and having 0 people around because they're 5/6 hours behind...

So, we got the SACS cable, and invested (a sizeable amount) in it so that people can have better gaming pings to a community in Brazil and the USA, with lower latency, but now everyone's saying that due to timezone differences, a lower latency route is bad.

Also, a stupid game called PUBG doesn't allow you to choose a preferred region, it just matchmakes you to a gameserver with the lower ping, where nobody might be playing.

Have I summarised this correctly ?

We just can't fsc*king win.

I remember the good old days of Tribes2, and Valve games, where anyone and any ISP could run a server without it being monopolized by a gaming company that thinks controlling the servers adds to their value chain.

The problem here, is that an ISP I can do no good in this scenario, aside from attempting to defy physics.

That's why I left FPS gaming.

I feel you on a spiritual level here xD

Playing Solo is fine, i don't care about being put on Brazil server then.

Playing with mates, the PUBG algorithm places us on a server with the least ping overall (Which because no other ISP wants to be as forward thinking as CISP) means we get placed on EU servers...

Thats where my issue comes in, because i'm on the server i want to be on, but it's routing via brazil for an EU connection... If that makes sense?
