Just tried a trial at a different usenet provider. Can barely maintain 8MB/sec with 20 connections. Definitely something up, Octotel or otherwise.

Yeah I have 3.8% packet loss to the international iperf server when testing at 180M. I guess Octotel's ineptitude knows no bounds. I'm sending off the downgrade email now - thanks for the help @PBCool

We just changed over to their network today actually, which shouldnt really have any positive impact as yet. Basically away from RSAWebs cabinet to their own.

@PBCool Tomorrow will be 2 weeks that my account does not work on Coolideas. I have logged tickets and called but no one gets back to me or are able to help me.

I have tried Afrihost, WebAfrica, OpenWeb .... etc on the line and it works like a charm.
As soon as I switch back to my coolideas details, there is no connection.

Do you have a ticket number for me?

Does a downgrade take effect month to month? (ie. will I be billed and downgraded on 1 July?)

It takes effect from when Octotel do the downgrade.

Is there any way to check if the MTU value being negotiated by the router is correct? I see my ER-X is connected with a value of 1492, while the LAN clients on the various ports are at 1500. Is that normal?

Yeah it is, packets get reshuffled into different frames, normal with the PPP overhead.

Does a downgrade take effect month to month? (ie. will I be billed and downgraded on 1 July?)

You aren't alone. I get this kind of bursting packet loss on Octotel's network too followed by those massive amounts of out of order packets. I haven't been complaining though as twitch still seem to works great but there's definitely something up with Octotel's network.

Yeah I've given up on waiting and sent through the downgrade request. If I'm only going to barely achieve 100mbps I may as well only pay for it. Octotel are clearly incapable of diagnosing and/or fixing their network.

We're looking at moving soon, and I never thought I'd utter these words, but I'm hoping Openserve is available wherever we end up.
