I’m so confused as to how a carrier just gets away with such shoddy service ? There has literally been no resolution with their service for weeks.

Let's just say the carrier's name is basically XXX letters, and they have been accused of corruption.

Nah the address for Astraweb's EU servers are ssl-eu.astraweb.com [81.171.92.203] and eu.news.astraweb.com [81.171.92.201], both are routed via Cogent, no speed issues this side...

Then I have no idea. My speed difference is night and day on Cogent vs HE.

I want a to test an account. I am currently with axxess. Can I just buy a data package and get the PPPOE login details and insert it on my router? @PBCool

Just PM me and I will give you one to test.

@PBCool Thanks I will send PM now. Will only be able to test later tonight when I get home. Also is the traffice auto routed to the SACS cable? I want to test a game that is hosted in Brazil.

Thanks

The Sao Paolo routes are not live yet.

@Seeyou Cable goes to Fortaleza and not Sao Paolo? So SACS not live? Would still like to test account to Europe for latency then @PBCool

I'm not up to date on the technical aspects, but I recall Sao Paolo being mentioned. I'm open to correction on that. It was live for a while but they ran into some routing issues IIRC - search/read back in this thread or the previous thread to get the details. It's supposed to go live soon again though, but if that's what you want to test, I think you're out of luck at the moment.

Damn I hope it's up soon. Alot of gaming servers over there and looks like the ping could be better then EU

Was hit and miss for me while it was operational, but that could've been down to the issues they were having. Lowest I saw to a gaming server was just over 100ms from Cape Town, so definitely better than EU.

When SACS went live, for a short period CISP was routing traffic via Angola, but was problematic. CISP is now in the process of installing their own equipment in Fortaleza so they will manage there own traffic and routing. Not sure how far the process is from completion. @TheRoDent @PBCool

Most of the servers are in sao paulo which gets the same ping that we get to london. If a server was closer to fortaleza than sao paulo and provided it routed correctly then we could see better ping than eu.

You can use this utility to get an idea of what it will be like: https://lg.angolacables.co.ao/
This shows the ping and traceroutes from angola cable's network nodes, just select cape town or joburg depending on where you are based.

Seems to be the reason F1 2019 keeps crashing. The amount of wasted effort in repeating a race, only to see it crash again before the result is saved, is extremely frustrating.
