Hi there it's been 5 days since I opened a ticket and more than a week of very slow internet. I am looking for solutions to speed up this support process, thank you.

Issue 'recovered' at 10PM last night. @TheRoDent

Edit: I wonder if they were upgrading equipment. Literally 1 packet lost over 4 hours average since then.

Have a friend who sees the exact same as this, during peak hours internet is a joke then once it calms down it is fine. Been like that for like 18 months and Octotel have attempted to fix the issue with their shitty back-haul 3 times but they are clueless apparently.

I did an Iperf test last night at about 20:00 expecting the 5-10% loss I've recently been getting but was greeted with absolute 0%. For a Sunday this is unheard of.

iperf3.exe -R -u -b 10M -p 17001 -c trcvmh01.cisp.co.za

iperf Done.

I don't know if Octotel have fixed something or got their act together but it's still holding at absolute zero. The skeptic in me says it was a freak one time event but I guess we'll wait and see.

Just wanted to let you know you aren't the only one seeing bizarrely good results.

@PBCool - I am experiencing slow downloads from what I assume are Microsoft servers - downloading a game on Microsoft store (XBox for Windows), over a wired connection, and am getting a maximum of ~50Mbps.

Traceroute to the machine its downloading from:

Tracing route to 152.199.20.1 over a maximum of 30 hops

1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms router.lan [10.0.3.1]
2 3 ms 1 ms 1 ms 154.0.0.246
3 2 ms 1 ms 2 ms 154.0.4.162
4 18 ms 18 ms 18 ms 100.99.0.34
5 19 ms 18 ms 18 ms 154.0.5.150
6 19 ms 20 ms 21 ms 196-60-9-70.ixp.joburg [196.60.9.70]
7 18 ms 18 ms 18 ms 152.199.20.1

Can anything be done about this?

We can't really control how Microsoft's CDNs behave unfortunately, if it continues for days on end let me know and we can try reach out.

If there isn't anything on announcements please log it, and as always please confirm you are testing over cable?

Have you tried the old DNS trick ? 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 or 1.1.1.1/1.0.0.1

Thanks, it was over cable. I did try other DNS (1.1.1.1, 8.8.8.8). Restarted router and CPE also.

To be honest, from previous experience support only gets to it hours/24h after I log it, after which they'll tell me that nothing looks strange. Example: now it's working as per normal again.

I don't think it was CDN related. All speedtests (to various servers), maxed out at 50/50.

Your issue doesn't seem related to CDN my message was more towards the other users issue, if it randomly happens then document the Speedtests and times and let support know.

Is this an ongoing thing or only this evening?

Cool. Not sure. First time I've noticed it today. Will log a support ticket when I notice it again.

@PBCool Once again after load shedding I'm down in West Beach, Cape Town on Octotel. Shed from 22:00 to 00:30 and still not able to bring up my PPPOE connection :(
