My result on Openserve 200/100 (Umgeni Park). Result is similar for different locations, Cool Ideas in JHB gives about 120mbps download.

It started from about 17:00 today. I think it maybe something between CPT & JHB being the issue.

Server ip: 197.81.195.174
We found a very old legacy route going directly to Mweb Victory Park for this, on not the greatest path.

This should now go via NAPAfrica. Could have been the cause of quite a bit of ping and packet loss issues. Out of interest which game was this ?

EDIT: NVM I see it was teamspeak. Let me know if this has improved.

Still DC'ing on Modern Warfare :(

IP: 197.80.200.29

seems most if not all the servers sit on the 197.80.200.xxx range
Show us a traceroute please. Currently I see that we hand it off directly to Optinet/Mweb in Cape Town, when tracing from CPT. Not sure where you are ?

I posted a trace for another IP further up. But this one seems very similar to that.

No that previous one, 197.81.195.174 was definately a weird legacy route in Joburg that we delivered directly to Victory Park on our backbone, which is a teamspeak server. That should now follow normal optinet paths, as they announce via Cape Town.

IP: 197.80.200.29
This one seems to be also Victory Park, Joburg. We hand it off to them at NAPAfrica in Cape Town, which is certainly not contended or under pressure. If there's further disconnects to this game, it aint us. As you can see loss is zero, also from your trace.

Think you're confusing the teamspeak issue with a different user :) Both my IP addresses were of the 197.80.200.xxx range.

As for Napafrica not being contended therefor it being the game, i humbly disagree with. We ran tests tonight with multiple people from the community.

4 CISP users and 3 non CISP users.
CISP users were in JHB and CPT.

Note: Game is played in teams of 3

We would join in a team of 2 CISP and 1 non CISP on the same server and All the CISP guys would disconnect at the exact same time.

So we tried 3 CISP in 1 game... All dropped out at the same time.

Then we tried 2 CISP and 1 non CISP in one server and the same setup in another server. All the CISP guys dropped out of both servers at exactly the same time.

Not once did the non CISP drop out.

So it would seem it's not a game thing, nor a CPT to JHB thing.

If anything it seems like an mweb peering issue :/

So yeah, i'm not sure what else to say. or what else we can test here xD

Sorry, I did think that when posting, but so much noise :)

So, they generally all on the same FNO, or different ones ?

It seems highly unlikely that there would be peering issues between us and mweb in both JHB and CPT at the same time. Know what I mean ?

Our BGP with the Teraco/NAP route servers has been solid for 26 days, so very weird. I can't think that it would be a peering issue, since we peer with them in both CPT and JHB, and thus the JHB users shouldn't have been affected at the same time as the CPT users, as that is a different route.

Unfortunately, I can only help with traceroute's or pings. So maybe next time this happens, and you all are in the same game, try and figure out the server IP and continuously ping it until it drops (if at all)

Kind like all these dam remote meetings these days and that one person that won't mute their mic! xD

This i did not actually check! So I will find out, maybe that will help things if this happens again tomorrow

This actually makes perfect sense now that i think about it. I'll get the guys to run traces if this happens again so we can really try and pin-point something.

My first trace i posted was a trace through a full game. When the disconnect happened i checked what the trace was doing and it was still pinging each route normally :/ So it wasn't like a dodgy hop that broke for a few seconds

Random stop in internet still happening had it a minute or so ago for 50 seconds.

Actual router doesnt show a DC the internet just wont load any pages etc.

Exact same time it also happened to my mate who is Vuma by the airport and playing COD and is also a CISP client.

I was just on discord talking to people

I saw something similar, around 10 minutes ago. SADV, Edenburg (Rivonia).

Dead for 60 - 90 secs and then came back.
