Sounds like an MTU thing, try bypass your router and test.

Weird... max I can get through on a windows PPPOE session is 1452. But the line gets 100Mbps to CoreIX (UK) set to the 1480 on the Mik....

@PBCool @TheRoDent Is it possible to try get an update from Octotel on what's happening with the Cape Gate upgrade? It looks like they're missing yet another ETR, which is worrying. And they're not responding on their official channels or reps.

@TheRoDent, I got a call from one of your consultants (Roslyn) and she said that 200Mb/s is the highest that SADV goes.
Yeah, seems I was mistaken, it's not a regular product. SADV will be upgrading 200Mbps speeds to 500Mbps speeds during the double up promotions as a "Proof of Concept", so just hold out.

We are evaluating how and when we participate in SADV's Corona Double Speed promotions and will communicate once we are ready.

Normally mikrotik CPU related, depending on the model.

They normally knock off around 4PM weekdays, so I am not holding any hope for them sorting it today, or even this week... I will start spamming them on Twitter tomorrow.

:p Still use a PC to do real work. :sneaky:

@PBCool @TheRoDent.... Any idea what to expect tomorrow? I've bought some TelkomLTE data lol.....
We should be fine, we've been prepping over the last few days, hence some of the emergency maintenance announcements too.

I don't expect a huge spike in international traffic, unless everyone "excercises" their lines to CoreIX to see what they can get. So don't do that, it's just silly, considering WACS is still down, and we are using alternative paths, some accelerated, some not.

If people go absolutely nuts we will have to implement some sort of per-connection queueing for international traffic, so be a friendly neighbor to your fellow CISP users.

This is not a "free for all", it's intended to assist with local usage and streaming and provide relief for families doing multiple things at the same time. If it's abused then we will simply rollback, or implement measures to contain abuse.

Keep in mind the find print:

  • The upgraded speeds are delivered to your router and it’s hard-wired Ethernet ports – we cannot guarantee that you will see the upgraded speeds on your Wi-Fi devices. Wi-Fi, as a shared medium is also highly susceptible to interference from neighbours which can reduce throughput.
  • FNO's are offering the line upgrade for free, but it costs us money to carry those additional bits and bytes. The upgraded speeds are offered as “best effort” and we will not guarantee the higher speeds under any circumstances or entertain support queries around the free higher speeds.
  • The speed upgrades are under the FNO's control, not Cool Ideas’. We therefore request that you don’t email us or call us to ask, “has it happened yet?” on the 1st of April. We will post announcements on our announcements and social media pages to keep everyone updated. There might be teething issues during the process as this is a massive undertaking.

So don't do that, it's just silly, considering that WACS is down and we are already making use of alternative paths, some accelerated, some not. And on Openserve we still stuck with any deals. What does the new IPC pricing look like????

hahaha, I know the type.... Lets delete the Steam Library so we can see how fast it can come back in

Thanks though! If it weren't a mission to do, you should just tie the international to paid for bandwidth and let the burst stay local... but meh... who knows, there might be some more bucks in it for you come June when people want to keep the new lines  looking at my interface queues, my sym 100 is already highly superfluous. But bragging rights... :giggle:

It's not a "deal", it's "free" relief. OpenServe are not doubling speeds, so meh.

Re: IPC etc, we have to do a full analysis before we make any changes, if any.

Being an uncapped provider, not having to control that kinda thing is exactly why our model works, by not having to have the expensive equipment to try and artifically limit things, and rather investing money in additional International transit and network infrastructure, which is always a good thing (tm).
