You can try this at the prompt elevated to admin:
netsh int tcp set supplemental template=internet congestionprovider=cubic
This changes the congestion control algorithm on Creators and above.
Already set to CUBIC :) This Twitch VOD buffering issue has been around for a while, on all ISPs in South Africa (so I've heard) just trying to make some sense of it...

Blows my mind that Twitch live streams can be served from Twitch edge servers in the UK with a 2.5 sec buffer size with absolutely no buffering, but VOD content with a 40 sec buffer size served from local CloudFront servers cannot play for more than 10 seconds without major issues o_O The workaround is a UDP tunnel to UK to force it to pull from UK CloudFront...

Do you have some examples of the ones that buffer and I'll run it through my SDWAN and see what it does?

Thats Amazon transit, their transit is really bad at the moment.... I have been using a VPN to get around it since they send everything these days via East Coast...

Interestingly an AWS IP but doesn't route via our local peer and their transit, not something announced via LINX either it uses our Cogent transit. Checking the other transits.

Edit: Latencies to that destination look the same from all 3 transits in UK. GEO IP info says that IP resides in the US.

Do you have a trace from the myiweb customer?

I tried 3 different providers on VPN as well from the UK and 215 seems about normal for that IP, i assumed it was just Amazon transit since in most games the latencies via it recently have been horrible.

Moved to CISP on Wednesday. Same day ISP switch.

I do get packet loss now on CISP network, not much, but it's there! Which it wasn't earlier that day on the other ISP PPPoE.

Hopefully some fine-tuning is still needed to fix this.

I find getting IP's of Apex servers very difficult to do, this is the resource monitor when playing on a Frankfurt server, my ping to it with Cool Ideas is 185-190 with NordVPN any of the providers show i get 155-157. The resource monitor changes basically whole game however when i do a trace route to ec2-54XXXX my end result is around 151ms but in game it sits at 180+ so not even sure if this is the right IP.

In Valorant, when we get thrown on random servers my ping was higher than Vox at the time it was close to 195ms for inside EU, at the time i did digging to try find out where the server was and found it was an AWS server however the region still remains a mystery - i don't have the results anymore.

I really don't mind using a VPN tbh i just need Nord to hurry their behinds and introduce split tunneling.

Yeah if you're playing on Frankfurt servers it wouldn't be listed as eu-west-1 (which I think is Ireland), should be eu-central-1

Looks like a case of AWS transit taking a longer route?

Yea that looks about right :p when I use Warp it sometimes sends me via East Coast and most of the time my ping then is the same as CISP, other times it sends me to JHB then back down to CPT via WACS... Either way ping is bad via it lol

What game is that ? Looks like PUBG? I know with Valorant they have been throwing us into random servers recently and a few people have been complaining they have been ending up on Asian servers so maybe what could have happened was you ended up on an Asian server and your friends ISP uses China Telecoms? 330 is around the ping I get to Hong Kong more or less so maybe you ended up on an Asian server. Using the one SA server on NordVPN was getting me 230 to Tokyo so maybe their ISP uses SAFE to Asia

Hi.

Was this a squad match? I ask since that W-A-sng doesn't seem to be an EU server, which I guess would be Singapore and then that Ping would be correct. If not a squad match then it could have been that you waited for a game over 3 mins and was thrown into another match.

We normally play on W-Fra, which is Frankfurt and the pings will be 150s to 179s depending if you are in CPT or JHB.

I really do hope they can sort the ping inconsistency issue out with AWS.

While using VPN is not a problem...it is just a schlep I'd prefer not having to go through.

On that note can anyone recommend some free VPNs that can be used just for gaming purposes for cheapskate like myself?

Windscribe have a free account 10GB once you verify email and if you use code WINDYNET it goes up to 15GB, connect to London Crumpets, it uses the same provider as i am using on NordVPN

This supports my theory of their friend's ISP has access to SAFE so lower pings to Asia.
