Hi.

I know this question has been asked and answered before, but going through all the threads even with a search will probably be a mission.

The 1Gpbs service... https://shop.vumatel.co.za/package/EyWJEvv7tu

* Is the download speed only for local content?
* Is it also Uncapped as the 100/100 will be?

Sorry again for asking since it has been asked before.

We do not cap, or rate limit any services.

As per our terms for a 1Gbps service, we reserve the right to shape international traffic to 100Mbps.

But we don't. Ask @jannier

It's never been an issue, hence we don't bother.

We do still reserve our rights in the sense on the 1G service that it is 1G local, and 100M international, but we we've had no need to enforce it, and we don't shape or need to. But you are going get the best we can provide.

We have enough capacity to provide that kind of service, even internationally.

But we will not entertain complaints about not being able to receive a 1G international service internationally since it's actually more about the ability of your home network, the fibre provider and other factors, such as RTT that we have no control over.

So we're simply covering our asses.

But feel free to speak to @jannier and others about what our 1GB service is like.

We don't shape any of our services. It's simply easier to get more capacity, local, or international.

We provide free Gigabit services to more than 140 schools, and believe me, they use it, and it's not a major concern. Our only concern is if people pull a "dick" move, hence our SLA/terms.

It's fine for a few seconds, then bad for a second, then back to fine and repeat.

edit: Actually seeing the same behavior to all of their servers, even the Brazillian ones. My buddy on WebAfrica is fine and not seeing this at all :(

That's exactly how I'm experiencing it in WoW classic too.

Great. This is what I thought. I'm 100% happy with the best effort service and understand the terms. I have a 100Mbps connection now and I'm super happy with it and know you will deliver the best you can.

Thanks for the honest reply.

You can't go wrong with the 1Gbps package from CISP. Ensure you've got a 1Gbps-capable router and cable, and you'll be fine.

I'm experiencing a bit of weirdness on my side too. I am having a bit of ping spikes and packet loss from yesterday afternoon. It was the most noticeable on Discord.

Speedtest shows that my download speed is relatively fine. The upload speed seems to be a bit of a problem though, and often gets "stuck" at a very low value on the tests. This happens regardless of the host that I pick.

I'm on 200mb down/100mb up Openserve in the Durban North area. Does anyone know of any open issues in the area? Below is my result from last month:

And of course, I spoke too soon. Our connection completely died and I had to reboot the ONT. Will DM you my details again. @PBCool

@PBCool

I'm very close to looking for another provider, apart from frequent line drops, international latency has been ludicrous recently, yesterday and today especially - Octotel and Cool Ideas from West Beach, Blouberg Sands, Cape Town.

Guild Wars 2 has been unplayable, and granted their AWS infrastructure is shite lately, this is coming from someone on our end. Ping spikes from the usual 200ms to upward of 4000ms.

I need some help or I'm moving to another provider, my patience mimics Eskom's power supply at this point.

We have ongoing issues with Octotel, can you give me your ticket number so we can include it in our escalation?
If it's relative to your line then moving provider wont realistically help, so best we push for resolution from the fibre provider.
