Thanks. The disconnects seem to be DNS issues, as when I try to open a page it says DNS could not be resolved and then changes to no internet. At this time I can still start a ping to 1.1.1.1 which shows no issues. Presumably because I am using the IP address?
Yeah, Kloof here and I'm getting the same situation. Happened 3 times today. I can ping IPs but all resolution goes down. Have my router set to use assigned dns as a primary and 8.8.8.8 as a backup, but I still seem to be having issues.

Try setting to 8.8.8.8 as primary and see, secondary typically never works from experience.

The best DNS on a router is one based on DNSMASQ and which you can configure. Failing that a Pi with pihole is the best. You can configure it for multiple upstreams and it shares code with DNSMASQ.
Never had an outage with either and I always configure 3 upstreams.

Looks like on the Openserve network as latency is between them and us at the handover. Will try look for any notices.

Also experiencing the same here, I'm on Openserve in KZN.

These are the exact same issues I reported on 29 August when I logged a ticket (slow speed and increased latency).

Not much we can do from our side as it's happening on the OS network, I imagine it may be two separate faults in your case. Maybe area related?

Not much we can do from our side as it's happening on the OS network, how long did it last for when you had it in August?
From about 6pm on the 29th to 1am on the 30th. It had happened a few times before then and it was always at the start of peak time until the early hours of the morning.

The timing would be quite weird seeing as tonight is the first time it's happened since the 29th, every other night it has been perfect since then.

Yeah that is rather strange, it almost seems as if traffic loops via a longhaul back to KZN.

But as the ISP can't you open tickets with OS about the issue?

We can and do but typically they get closed as the point in time it's resolved. If it's affecting two people randomly per month it's hard to drive a case of major investigation. Something I would suggest we try is use another ISPs account at the time and do the same trace, with this it would help motivate.

Very arb the first trace tells us loss on Cogent, the second tells us loss to London. Graphs to London show no loss from Cape Town. Monitor tomorrow and let me know pls?
Will do, its all the same MTR just as things progressed so it showed first on Cogent then it showed on London hop, still seeing around 2% loss in Apex to London and Amsterdam, it was perfect then hit me in game and was unplayable so checked things out

I guess Openserve was perhaps doing some kind of maintenance.
