Guys , what speed should i be getting on a 200/200 line with the laptop connected directly to the ONT ?
I would assume that around 190+Mbps both ways is a good link even 180 sounds good to me now.... Im getting between 130 and 150 down and 190+ upload.

Been having hells with CI and MFN the last few weeks ..... :(
You should should getting as close to line speed... I get 200/100 on WiFi so ethernet should be line speed as well. Could it be congestion/packet loss on MFN

open the developer tools in chrome or firefox and see if you can spot any obvious errors

Notice how I have disable cache checked, also sometimes unbugs stuff.

You should should getting as close to line speed... I get 200/100 on WiFi so ethernet should be line speed as well. Could it be congestion/packet loss on MFN

Never had this issue until the last outage on MFN , CI says it’s something to do with vlans… MFN says no issue from their side… I sent screenshots twice now to CI and still waiting…. This sucks

With the speed upgrades making 1000/200 more expensive than 200/200, will 1000/200 finally be getting at least 200 down international like 200/200?

1000 never had any bandwidth limits on it.

Two out of 3 nights now, Octotel severed my connection and I got a new IP each time.

Please tell them to stop doing that...

Edit: And they did it just now again.... and a new IP again!!!!!

And 1.1.1.1 is routed to JHB now instead of CPT....

Code:
Tracing route to one.one.one.one [1.1.1.1]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

  1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms ZyXEL.Home [192.168.0.1]
  2 4 ms 2 ms 3 ms 154.0.0.238
  3 2 ms 2 ms 2 ms 100.98.0.3
  4 3 ms 3 ms 3 ms 100.98.0.12
  5 37 ms 19 ms 19 ms cloudflare.ixp.capetown [196.60.70.198]
  6 37 ms 18 ms 18 ms one.one.one.one [1.1.1.1]

Trace complete.

open the developer tools in chrome or firefox and see if you can spot any obvious errors

Notice how I have disable cache checked, also sometimes unbugs stuff.
embarrassingly (for me), - clearing the browser cache fixed the issue! (as you hinted)... what threw me off ws the fact that 3 different browsers showed the same behaviour, (edge/chrome/ff), so at the time was not convienced it was a browser issue... also the mtr info added confusion. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to respond! appreciate it!

"cloudflare.ixp.capetown" would suggest CT no? and its basically JHB ping on that hop already?

Yes I’m in kzn.
We've also been having ongoing issues with MFN in your region, currently MFN backhauls your traffic to JHB themselves. Which we are in the process of switching over to our own capacity. I imagine this will resolve a lot of the trouble we've been having.

It would be great if Cool Ideas offered the option of having a static IP address for a reasonable add-on fee each month. The only option at the moment is getting a business package which is almost 5x the price of the equivalent standard packages, which is just not practicable for most who just need the same service but with a static IP.

P.S. This is particularly important with more people working from home having to connect to secure VPNs and other services that are IP restricted.
