Discord and a gaming server in JHB (Diabotical) seems to be routing weirdly as I'm getting 170ms ping to both.

Most noticeable are with game downloads like for instance the Epic game store, looks like it uses an Mweb hosted service (the host at the time was 197-80-130-81.jhb.mweb.co.za [197.80.130.81]).

Steam is generally one that also suffers as there aren't any Cape Town server (even though it's an option in the menu, it just uses JHB ones). I generally use the Belgium server as I can get like 600Mbps with it most times.

Tested Origin (or the new EA launcher) and it was actually fine (80MB/s+, nice)

Xbox downloads are completely borked, I'm not sure if that's Microsoft of the internet honestly but they're just painfully slow and inconsistent (sometimes at 100Mbps, sometimes they will go really slow for extended periods then go up and down, sometimes they hit 200Mbps for short bursts).

Playstation downloads never seem to go above 300Mbps (PS5), but they are at least consistent and not broken like the Xbox.

Microsoft store downloads on PC, while not as bad as on the Xbox, are also never downloading at more than 300Mbps, like now they're jumping around between 100 and 200Mbps:

Oh an another oddity is the Star Citizen launcher, whenever I do updates there it seems to just motor. No idea what voodoo they're doing there but that pushes my line further than anything else I've seen.

Well MS peers in Cape Town, so I imagine a lot of these issues aren't massively based on services originating from JHB, steam may use akamai which would then use our cluster in JHB.

Which DNS are you using?

@PBCool - Same here.. I normally get +- 16-18ms ping.. its over 150ms for the past few hours. Any ideas why?

Same here, been like this Sunday already. Get the odd game at low ping then only searches for games over 150ms.

If memory serves correct, FIFA gets served via i3d.net as well. Latency should be 20ms since it's handed over to NapJHB. Perhaps i3d.net changed their announcement.

If you playing on PC just use Warp from Cloudflare will give you 20ms i tested earlier

I'm playing on ps4. Tried DNS server 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8 see if it helps... it didn't

Nah need to use the vpn provided by cloudflare, traffic gets picked up locally and goes via their network i was getting 18ms to discord via it earlier

Vumatel doing any maintenance in Cape Town? Line is basically dead 50/50 line is struggling to do a speed test even, download is sitting at like 0.8 :| I see nothing on announcements

Yeah but I should not have to do this as it was working perfectly a day ago?

This is not something we have changed, it seems they are preferring the London peer. The guys are looking into it.
