Also noticed last night around 6-7pm youtube unusable from Cape Town on Vuma trenched where it previously worked 100%.

What I have noticed is, when it worked, my ip was in the 155.x.x.x ip range.
Now that I struggle, I have an 102.x.x.x ip range.

Which means, this bigger ip range of CISP must be sent to a google video cache cluster that struggle where the 155.x.x.x. range doesn't and stays on a healthy cluster.

Annoying.

I've had the issue since I can remember (clean tracerts but loss in-game). Tried fixing it a while back but just gave up.

I've replaced my router, lan cables, network switches, formatted PC etc. Everything besides the Dassan ONT that is.

I'll take same Valorant screenshots in a bit

If its a Dassan ONT do you use a PPP account?

Both of those blocks are advertised the same, in all locations so doesn't make much sense.

Perhaps, but I think google redirect traffic based on subnet and how much traffic that subnet is doing. So if 1 subnet is doing more traffic than another, it has a bigger chance of getting redirected first when a specific cluster is reaching traffic limits.

I'm on a 155 and have no issues and I'm pulling Google apparently from Amsterdam during peak hours currently pulling from JHB

And yet...

Clean Pingplotter to Riot London

How sure are you that the IP address you're running Pingplotter to is the actual game server? I know Apex has completely separate servers for login and matchmaking vs their actual game servers. Have you checked in Windows resource monitor under the network tab to make sure you've got the correct IP?

Thanks for confirming, as I had no issues when I was on 155.

Have setup a home assistant sensor for the content of the redirector url and an automation to alert me.

Will see what happen tonight.

Hi Chris. Our teams are looking into your ticket and investigating your sessions. We will be in touch shortly.
@CoolChick @PBCool ; Hi, yesterday I logged the ticket ; (#COOL-20220510-930871) this was for intermittent disconnections on my router to the PPPOE / WAN connection.
(last year something similar happened, then all of a sudden everything is stable again for a few months)
In any case, this morning I've been disconnected again, and at time of this message, has not re-connected since, ~20 minutes now.

(I've provided the MTR as requested by your technician, I am not sure why they insist for an MTR? As in my case of a PPPOE disconnect, the first hop, the hop after the router, will fail ? Just frustrated as I reported this yesterday, and the situation has deteriorated)

Update: just received some messages on the complex whatsapp > other people are complaining... more evidence the issue is not local to my devices/setup.

Please help.
Kind regards,
Chris

Hi, has a ticket been logged with Vumatel at least. Could you at the very least acknowledge the issue? @PBCool

#COOL-20220510-930871 > after having most of the day with no internet, the connection seems to have re-connected now at 15h30, just in time for load shedding this evening hooray.

Can anyone please tell me the underlying issue this time ... would like to know if the instability is to continue ...

I see this is one of the first entries on my router"
"May 11 15:23:49 pppd[437]: CHAP authentication succeeded"
I assume the authentication is done on the CISP side? Or is it the FNO/Vuma?
Reason I ask, in a previous outage, BPCool mentioned an "access router failure at teraco" on the CISP side?

Was this the case this time? Also would expect the outage to be more wide spread ? Seems to be isolated only to my complex? No one else complaining ?

I believe so. I got the IP from Resource Monitor, Valorant-64-shipping.exe or whatever, with the highest bytes/sec. Could be wrong though.

Thanks for the response. How do I check this? I haven't touched the Dassan ONT since it was installed by Afrihost in 2017. When I switched to CISP all I did was change my username and password on my ASUS router. WAN connection type is PPPoE

Nah that sounds like it should be correct, just double checking.

We haven't had any failures, it's either a line issue or a Vumatel outage. I will see where the team is up to with the ticket.

Sheesh, glad I'm not the only one, feel like I'm going insane! Been 5 months of this and 2 FNO's and 2 ISP's. So frustrating when MTR/ping plotter tests are clean yet the loss in-game is constant every single day, ISP's then wash their hands of the problem as it all looks fine on tests. Makes you feel insane, I even formatted my PC yesterday because of it, even though the same PC has no issue at a mates place 5km away on Openserve, I've ruled everything out - routers, cables, OS, ISP, FNO! Hence my question if there's shared short distance infrastructure among FNO's/ISP's or something, I'm not in the industry and wouldn't know ...

Had Cool Ideas contact me today to do more Iperf + ping plotter tests from the ONT, which came up clean. I showed the guy the spikes live in-game from an Anydesk session just to prove my point.

I'm expecting the usual "we found no issues on your line" or escalations to Vumatel to be fruitless or no follow-ups and silent treatment again but fingers crossed.
I had a Dassan ONT for Octotel until switching to Vumatel who installed a much more modern looking bigger box and fresh lines on Friday.

I used to be big into gaming too but the problems we face are pretty much insurmountable. From the garbage infrastructure most (not all) FNO's use, their clearly incredibly low standards for maintaining it and the increasingly difficult task of being able to identify what the issue is as these companies obfuscate and hide their IP's and servers to when the stars and moon do align and you finally have no packet loss you take abuse from the europeans for "ruining their game with your high ping and you should go back to your own servers" or you teleport around and have no hit reg anyway because games aren't meant to be played with 120-200 ping. Or better yet what seems to be a new trend among mmo's is just banning our country from playing outright before the game is released. Now throw in loadshedding and gaming becomes a full time job just to make sure you get a decent connection before you can even play the damn game. I remember doing destiny 2 raids with mates and because we all had low levels of packet loss it caused us to wipe SO MANY TIMES because someone would drop mid raid or weird glitches would start happening because someone lost a packet they needed that made the raid impossible to finish or having to guess what people are saying on discord because their sentences keep cutting out. For me the hobby just became too frustrating to enjoy anymore.

Anyway I wish you luck sir, you have the benefit of being on vuma. If anyone is going to give you a good experience its them.

P.S Octotel is the worst FNO in the country. Change my mind.

I played D2 with people a while ago and we never encountered that issue once, they implemented SA servers though so thats probably why.
