I used to be big into gaming too but the problems we face are pretty much insurmountable. From the garbage infrastructure most (not all) FNO's use, their clearly incredibly low standards for maintaining it and the increasingly difficult task of being able to identify what the issue is as these companies obfuscate and hide their IP's and servers to when the stars and moon do align and you finally have no packet loss you take abuse from the europeans for "ruining their game with your high ping and you should go back to your own servers" or you teleport around and have no hit reg anyway because games aren't meant to be played with 120-200 ping. Or better yet what seems to be a new trend among mmo's is just banning our country from playing outright before the game is released. Now throw in loadshedding and gaming becomes a full time job just to make sure you get a decent connection before you can even play the damn game. I remember doing destiny 2 raids with mates and because we all had low levels of packet loss it caused us to wipe SO MANY TIMES because someone would drop mid raid or weird glitches would start happening because someone lost a packet they needed that made the raid impossible to finish or having to guess what people are saying on discord because their sentences keep cutting out. For me the hobby just became too frustrating to enjoy anymore.

Anyway I wish you luck sir, you have the benefit of being on vuma. If anyone is going to give you a good experience its them.

P.S Octotel is the worst FNO in the country. Change my mind.
I'll agree with you in terms of ping fluctuations but not packet loss, I've been gaming for 20 years since 56k. Never had packet loss on ISDN or ADSL playing CS and other fps/other titles locally. Also never had packet loss (ping fluctuations yes) - playing internationally on ADSL since around 2012-2014 or somewhere around there when netcode/interpolation improvements made it more tolerable, nor fibre since 2018. Only had packet loss now in this area. There's no excuse for it then, it's fibre not copper. None of my friends have this issue.

I'm having an issue at my new place where my Octotel 1000/200 is only doing 100 upload.

I opened a ticket but the agent gave me instructions where I have connect directly to the ONT using Windows PPPoE. I don't have a Windows computer, nor do I feel like going through all that process.

Nothing has really changed with my setup, I'm using the same network components as my previous install and that was working with 200Mbps up just fine.

Speedtests clearly show that I'm only getting 100 up: https://www.speedtest.net/result/c/5a5a39d7-f7ee-4665-b353-404fb5a8944d

Any chance this is something common that I don't have spend an hour gathering diagnostics? Ticket COOL-20220511-931647

Maybe you have another device that is connected at 100Mbps that is maxing out upload to something, a backup or whatever. So when you do a speedtest, there is 1000 available for download test, but only 100 available for upload test.

Nope, unfortunately not that simple (I wish though).

I'll try and maybe switch cables around and see if that helps.
The other reason you need to test directly on ont and Unplug router is to rule out things like a device uploading, or a bandwidth queue on the router limiting traffic ect. It's there for a reason. I myself have had to do it in the past pointing to my mikrotik router as the cause.

Yeah it's very arb all the tests we have done show zero packet loss, so will need to get someone out to test further.

@PBCool How do I check if my Dassan ONT uses a PPP account? Do I plug it into a PC directly? PS my WAN connection type on my ASUS router is PPPoE

I've replied to the tech assigned to my ticket. But I've now proven the problem lies with Cool Ideas.

Asked a friend 5km away, to use the Cool Ideas Openserve test account I was given to test to Valorant London, on his own PC, on his Openserve line.
In 2 test sessions he got: 100 packets lost in 7 minutes and 161 packets lost in 8 minutes.

He then dialed up his Vox Openserve account and got 0 (zero) packets lost in 7.5 minutes.

Session 1 (Cool Ideas/Openserve):
2 - Session 1 Cool Ideas Openserve - END - 100 Total Packets Lost.jpg
Session 2 (Cool Ideas/Openserve):
4 - Session 2 - Cool Ideas Openserve - 154 packets lost with 2m41s left.jpg

6 - Session 2 Cool Ideas Openserve - END - 161 Total Packets Lost.jpg
Session 3 (Vox/Openserve):
7 - Session 3 - Vox on Openserve - END - 0 Total Packets Lost.jpg

There's very evidently now a problem with your routing.
I've eliminated absolutely every single possibility on my end. It's not my PC, not my router, not my cabling, nothing to do with me whatsoever.

What is the next step now? How are you going to fix this?

Game server MTR traces should reveal the problem

Thanks for all the testing and going out of your way, so this wouldn't inherently be a routing issue, and is it only this game you are seeing this or others?

I play Valorant as well and don't have these problems... I am Vumatel though and CT. All these are Amazon servers as well so AWS transit..

Cool, what is going on with these recent outages in blue downs, this entire week its on and off. What is Vuma saying, what's the issue here? Its off again with no ETR as per usual.

It's what makes this tricky to diagnose, it maybe one of the peering fabrics. So will revoke some advertising and do some more tests.

Of course there's an announcement CoolIdeas is the only company that actually cares and informs their customers but its going off and on like load shedding here all week, Vuma needs to get it together people have remote jobs and varsity nowadays.

I wish we could do business with you guys without Vuma, our lives would be so much easier
