Hi.

So I finally got my router from CI today too. Using my pc was straightforward, plug and play. It worked right away. But my mobile devices all have exceptionally low speeds.

Are they being "throttled" by the router on default, if so where do I set them up? I see that my router has a "5G" wireless option too, but I can't seem to pick it up, is this because my devices are not compatible for 5Ghz?

I tried playing around in the router admin page but nothing seems to be set up against my mobile devices. I literally plugged it in tonight and haven't changed anything.

You will definitely get much better speeds on the 5Ghz option but 5Ghz is not that good with going through walls and stuff so signal will be lower than on 2Ghz

2Ghz will give you much better range but lower speeds

But I don't see 5Ghz as an option to connect to? How do I set up my mobile devices to benefit from the massive speed of Fibre? They're just getting 20mbps? 20 out of 500....

Some routers combine it automatically the best way is to separate the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz as separate networks usually in Wi-Fi settings not sure what router you have

Seeing some issues on my end with YouTube at the moment...page loads, but no videos want to play.

Also on Openserve.

EDIT: Switching to 1.1.1.1 solves it. Definitely CISP DNS acting up.

8 hours later and it's still down @PBCool @TheRoDent

DNS change to 1.1.1.1 suggested above has fixed it.
Resolved now. Seems like certain regions such as KZN and portions of the network had a stale routing entry for 154.0.1.1

Edit: Still seems to be getting a stuck path, investigating.

Still down for me in KZN and also since last night. Should I wait for the fix to take effect or change my DNS as others have suggested?

Also to add to the other comments I’ve also been experience intermittent but somewhat frequent disconnects for a while now. Dawncliffe/Westville on Openserve.

@TheRoDent @PBCool do either of you know how I can set up my new router(Cudy) that CISP sent me? My PC(wired) has correct speed(500Mbps) but all my mobile devices only get 20Mbps?

Since CPT is not on the roll out radar at the moment, it would be REALLY nice to sort out these bottom tier Cogent routes to Germany, instead of hearing about how Cogent WILL be falling away, at some unspecified time in the future. Gaming is not possible when the route goes London > NY > Sao Paolo > London. Surely you could just notify them of the problem and have them sort out whatever insanity is determining that route?

So the short term solution is to get LINX going for particular routes, I have reached out to riot and Blizzard thus far. Do you have the example for me so I can add to the list?
