We have 100/100 Openserve now and decided to upgrade to 200/200
We have an old TP-Link Archer C20 V4 wifi turned off with 4x TP-Link Deco x50
The Archer is DHCP server because I could not get it working in bridge mode.
Because the Archer is not fast enough for 200/200 Cool Ideas offered me a Cudy AC1200 Gigabit Wi-Fi Mesh Router Model: WR1300 for only R200 shipping
Is the Cudy any good?
Stability is very important to us , we don't wat to have to reboot it all the time..
And can i make it work as a bridge?
I would not mind to spend some money to get something better, any suggestions?
So I hae been running this router for the past 2 years, has been rock solid in terms of stability, can even reconnect (from the UI) if your line gets disconnected, never needed to reboot it.
5G is fast
2.4G range is alright, nothing to write home about
I have had an issue with GlobalProtect VPN (which i believe is IPSEC - please dont quote me) where the packet fragmentation was the issue, now big kudo's to coolideas, they reverted back to cudy for me and got newer firmware to sort out the issue - which solved it, but not 100%, my dns resolving was still significantly slower than where it was, ended up switching to OPNsense in the end and using it as an AP
Enter the last caveat:
No matter how hard I try lol, this cudy dhcp still takes over (its disabled) if my opnsense router goes down (its in a vm), now i'm just going to put it behind a vlan to resolve this, but i digress
from a consumer standpoint, pretty solid
from a more advanced networking/home-labbing standpoint, not worth the struggles
