Cool Ideas Fibre ISP – Feedback Thread 6

Thank you, I appreciate the assistance and quick responses
No problem :)

Does your trace to 8.8.8.8 still also time out on Hop 3 as per your trace here on the 6th?

As i see it was a coin flip as to which one resolves, as I see a few days later 1.1.1.1 also did the same, where 8.8.8.8 was fine

Earlier today both 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1 were working perfectly but at this present moment only 1.1.1.1 returns request timeout from the 3rd hop

Thanks,
Busy speaking to Vumatel, and they are checking the link.
They have told me they are provisioning the link, so you might notice a drop in connection quick.

They have asked if you could test in 45 mins to see if there is any difference? As they have also changed your IP.

Okay no problem I will check after 45 minutes

Thanks, Also do you have the option for a LAN connection, or are you restricted to Wi-Fi only based on where your PS is? As a LAN connection was requested by Vuma as a troubleshooting step.

Been having gaming related issues where connection test on Playstation Network fails or Nat type fails, when they both eventually work I struggle to connect to game servers specifically Warzone which will randomly work sometimes but FC24 doesn't work at all. I've attached traceroute to EA servers which shows they are being blocked for some reason, is this an issue that can be fixed?
In the past, I have had to enable UPnP on my router to resolve the NAT type issue

Unfortunately using LAN doesn't help either, I'm still getting Playstation sign-in and Nat type issues but 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8 seem to be working normally today completing the traceroute without timeouts

utas.s2.fut.ea.com(FUT servers) no longer timeout on the 3rd hop but easo.ea.com(EA servers) still timeout after hop 9 and still can't sign in on FC24 1721197936231.png

That doesn't work for me, even with UPnp and DMZ on my Playstation Sign-in nd Nat type issue are pretty much random. sometimes they work on the first try and sometimes I have to test connection multiple times before they both work, so with my issue either Playstation sign-in fails and Nat type works then vice versa or they both just fail while everything else works

Thanks for confirming, really odd issue .
I will ask some to give you a call to do some other tests quick, will you be available?

HI, I believe all is sorted with UPnP enabled now?
Please let us know should the issue persist in any way.

Maybe a question for a sometimes learner

Does Cool Ideas offer IVP6? I understand that the router I am using, a TP-Link AX5400, supports IVP6

Then, is it worth it?

Hi there, this is currently in the Trial period.
If you meet the criteria as per the below, you should be able to test it out :)

Basically also if you are on Vumatel Aerial and Evotel you should be terminating on v6 enabled kit.

If you are on Openserve you can change your realm to coolideas.co.za and you should be able to v6.

This is all only in JHB for the time being*

From what I can see on my secondary IP (xxx.x.x.35) allocated to my fibre router the link is up again - unsure about the central IT managed IP xxx.x.x.34
Please get an RCA if possible so that I can log it - thank you

Thank you for confirming, have relayed to the necessary teams involved. :)

Will ask about the RCA as well.

Sorry, I missed this question.

But yes, it's definitely worth it, it solves a lot of problems from V4.
There is no need for NAT anymore, you have a Much larger usable public IP space.
There is also no need for things like Port forwarding for services hosted behind your home router, since the V6 address is globally routable. However, you will still need to do some Firewalling to manage traffic.

But normally it would run in Dual Stack configuration, which is a Mix of V4 and V6, since you still need V4 for some applications/Compatibility reasons.

Have just been testing v6 on CISP with Openserve and for the majority of use cases it just works. You wouldn't even know it was or wasn't there. However some sites and services broke on my end - and it may be due to how i do DNS (PiHole) OR my router's implementation of dual-stack
