Cool Ideas sent out a notice on 31 October 2023 that as of 01 November 2023 Zoom Fibre customers would be getting a speed upgrade. This was also reflected on my latest invoice.

Yet it is now 2 November 2023 and I have not got any upgraded speeds yet, contacted support and they said it will take up to 13 November for the upgrades to be implemented.

Is this case of them doing a Cyril and making a big promise they are unable to keep? #PublicHoliday

or is this a case of all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others, because I have a feeling certain suburbs might have already been upgraded...

To be fair whenever there a speed upgrade from any of the FNOs it always a phased approach.
So nothing usual about it taking 2 weeks to happen.
I know but then they should have rather communicated it as such, not "Hey you're getting an upgrade on 01 November" but then "Oh sorry it will take 2 weeks"... I feel tricked in the same Cyril tricked us to watch him do some campaigning :cautious:

Hi, firstly you need to understand we do our best to communicate things as we can.

We got those comms from Zoom that it would all be done come 1 November. Then once we enquired with them we get the feedback that it will actually take up to 2 weeks.

Historically with MFN changes for instance we have communicated the time frames we were provided with.

You should be mature enough to know by now that ISPs are not your friends, they lie as much as the ANC does and are just as devious as debt collectors. They are however a necessary evil

Umm OK.

That would make Op the Malema's of this world?

Taking something small at making into hype for attention.

The ISPs don't own the FNOs and the FNOs are not the best at ongoing communication. Clearly the ISP was given a date that the FNO has not been able to meet.

You should have been around in the days when you ordered ADSL and Telkom pitched-up 2 months later. It teaches patience, something one needs :)

I've never had a problem with my 2 ISPs, @PBCool and @websquadza

I don't expect everything to be perfect, i can imagine its difficult to live in a world where you expect it all to be...

It might be the case, but as much as we hate to admit it JuJu does get **** done, if the EFF promised speed upgrades on 01 November that's exactly when you would get them. Nevertheless I'm fully aware I'm ranting about a trivial issue, but demanding better is something all South Africans should do. Zoom definitely are the ones that dropped the ball but I pay my bill to CISP so I'm hoping they are putting pressure on them to actually deliver on their promises.

The same bloke who said they will build a school in 5 years, in 2019. And failed to do so?

You need to calm the **** down. You’re getting a free speed upgrade. Have a little patience.

Jinne, one day later than advertised & the insults fly...

And it's a free upgrade and still complain...
Meanwhile those of us on Openserve 500/250 gets shafted every time there is an upgrade, why you may ask? Because there is upgrade further than 500/250...
Talking in general here, not specific to an ISP...

Ranting is the answer, I tried for years to rally the community to get fibre for the small town we live in with limited sucess. Hijacked some posts a few ANC and DA councillors made when elections was getting close, insulted the crap out of them for doing nothing to bring broadband to the community and how we're going to miss out on the 4th industrial revolution etc. Magically fibre connectivity was included on the IDP for the next year after that

a free speed upgrade
Nothing is ever really free, they are simply adjusting to remain competitive with the market. I am fortunate enough to live in an area that has 2 FNO's (rumours are a 3rd may also enter) and great 5G coverage. Don't ever believe a business is doing you a favour, that is a fallacy.

If I wasn't salty enough, Afrihost customers were upgraded last night, the screenshot is from a friend that lives not too far away. Seems it's time to look for a new ISP, Afrihost own CISP which makes it even more annoying, definitely a case of all animals are equal but some more equal than others...
