I'm not doubting the beauty and awesomeness of the formations, but that first pic (OP) is just too perfect.Lol... cynical lot here.
I don't see the point of photoshopping something that happens as a natural occurrence regularly. I've personally seen weavers fly in formation like this and I believe it's not uncommon for starlings to do the same. It's pretty impressive when the numbers are big - the sound is incredible too. They often do it before roosting - it almost looks like a game.
