There is always a lot of cool stuff that is never released in SA! :(

Despite Vodacom saying that they plan to offer Samsung’s Windows Phone 8 device by the end of November 2012, the smartphone has yet to launch in South Africa.

AFAIK, Samsung held back the ATIV until the last week of December, so it will be here, I am sure, sometime early this year.

edit:

Samsung's first Windows Phone 8 handset the Samsung ATIV S has been delayed, it's been revealed.

The company originally announced the Samsung ATIV S at the IFA 2012 event at the end of August. That made it the first Windows Phone 8 device to be officially unveiled.

However, it now appears that the Samsung ATIV S will be the last of the initial batch of Windows Phone 8 handsets to be released. SamMobile is reporting that the device will start shipping in week 52 - that's the last week of the year, of course.

It's still early days for the nexus 4 and HTC... Will probably release in SA this year.

I have a nexus 4. Its nice. The camera autofocus is slow. Does not compare to my iPhone 5. The external speaker is also not as good as the iPhone 5.

I understand that the Nexus 4 was deliberately not brought in to SA by LG South Africa... I think that was a retarded move on LG's part if international sales numbers are anything to go by!

Perhaps worth a rethink, but that would mean admitting a mistake...

Why do you have both?

I was angry with Apple about the google maps issue and the fact they they restrict tethering (I travel a lot and it is determined by network and not the phone) so I placed a order for the Nexus.

I have only been using it for a week, so I can't say for sure that I will stay with the Nexus 4. My Nexus 7 3G speaker blew at 20 days, so I hope the Nexus 4 form LG is better than the Nexus 7 from Asus.

Really disgusted that the Nexus 4 was not offered by any of our carriers.

FFS, it's Google's flagship Android phone!

If LG brings it, it will be nowhere near the price Google is selling it for. Either way, even at normal high end prices, still seems like it will be worth it. Hope they so bring it eventually.

Nexus 4 master race here.

I can confirm the camera autofocus being slow but the autofocus its abit faster than my old HTC Desire HD. I also never use the loudspeaker on my phone because I have dignity. The call/ear speaker is really loud. I have no problems with its clarity or volume.

If it weren't for Snapseed I would be really frustrated at my phone but Snapseeds auto-colour correction function makes my photos look iPhone-esque

My upgrade comes first week in Feb and was seriously considering the Nexus 4. Alternatives are S3 and Xperia T. I'll wait the month out :whistling:

dabbler you are in one awkward situation within 2 months your phone will be outdated by the next wave of Flagships. I reckon HTC will be first. Then Samsung then Apple will be typically June/July

The One X and SGS3 were launched in April IIRC. IMO it's a good thing to align your contract to sync with "Good" months
