Cop allegedly gave service pistol to robbers to burgle police station's guns

.Johannesburg - A 34-year-old female police officer from the Free State was expected to appear in court on Thursday for allegedly conspiring to have people steal firearms from her unit.

The constable was arrested on Tuesday in joint a operation by the Hawks and Crime Intelligence and charged with corruption, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and theft.

She was expected to appear at the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court.

According to Hawks spokesperson Warrant Officer Lynda Steyn, the officer allegedly approached someone, told them that she had financial problems and that she had guns to sell.

The person is alleged to have gone straight to the police who then set up a sting operation.

People can't plan beyond the present. The same guns were going to be passed on and stolen and further down the criminal value chain, they were potentially going to kill her own relatives.

This is the second time in as many years when a South African police woman helps to rob a Police station of firearms. About a year or so ago, there was a similar incident. I just don't remember the details.

They should charge her with the attempted murder of every single police officer who was in that station that evening. Don't fsck around and charge her with some pansy assed charge about renting her service weapon. She is a police officer, she should be expected to know that if they wanted to rob that station with weapon(s) then the criminals had the intention of shooting at police officers.

Just when I think SA can't get any worse, a cop actually lends out her pistol to rob her own police station That's some messed up stuff right there.
And the government has the gall to want to ban firearms for self defence and leave the public helpless in SA. Pi$$ right off ANC.
