Rape and murder is also a fact of our society. As is corruption, theft, burglary, etc. Your argument is idiotic. You're saying that because it's "part of it" we should just allow it. Where does one draw the line?
So what do you propose a normal person do when they see a taxi driver driving like a d**s or running a robot...? Make a citizen's arrest?

I have never bothered to draw any lines, just continue with my business. You can always get into a fist fight or even better a gunfight with them if you insist on drawing the line.

This is the best policy IMO, I used to get annoyed and lean on my hooter with zero response apart from raising my own blood pressure. Taxis are gonna taxi, nothing we do is going to change it and getting upset about it is pointless...
Acquiescence is a rubbish response
Society is the best police for wider society, just surrending and showing your belly to every nicknack especially lawless Curs endangering lives, then coming back later when your family is endangered/killed complaining why didn't anybody do anything is hypocritical - what did you do?

I paid my taxes. Which goes towards law enforcement. Why should I pay them, and do their work for them?

Because I can't prevent everything I shouldn't respond to anything and just accept it?

If you are in the Taxi you shout at the driver
If you are in the car being pushed off the road you push back
If you are at the light and they push by on your left - you stop as far left as possible

If you are stuck behind an illegally parked vehicle you and your fellow drivers hoot as all of you pass

Give an inch,take an inch

It's fine and well to cancel your armed response, switch off the electric fence and leave your gates and house unlocked because **** *shouldn't* happen and you are paying the state to make sure of that,or you do your best to make sure it *doesn't* happen

Had this discussion yesterday in an unrelated topic, but there too it came down to the same thing ideal != reality

Hoot at them. If they are illegally driving in the emergency lane in a traffic jam, I move my car halfway in and block them.
You can also call the traffic police as well.

Granted, you need to have some stoicism and do this without letting them ruin your day.

No idea, to be honest. I sure as hell don't make it easier for them, but I don't know what to do. I may be mistaken, but I believe a citizen's arrest in SA is only applicable on violent crimes, not "petty" ones, like skipping a red light. Although I was almost in a huge accident a few weeks ago by a red-light skipper, I really do not know.

  Yeah. Being pushed off the road, and the response should be to endanger myself further by pushing back and damaging my car which will increase my insurance premiums.

And what the fck does hooting and shouting help to someone (the taxi driver) who literally doesnt give two shts and its LITERALLY like water off a ducks back.

All your suggestions are twaddle that will have ZERO effect other than to cause yourself more aggravation.

Don't fight back.
Sit down and be a good little citizen.
There there, pappa government will take care of you.

I have a wife. And a life. That I love. I will not endanger that to be a traffic cop. I pay taxes so someone else does that. But by all means, you be Rambo. See how far that gets you. I take action only when my life or my wife's life is in danger. Other than that, the world's problems are not mine to deal with.

2 kids died in fourways last weekend due to a Taxi skipping a red on the shoulder

Ideal world they wouldn't be on the road begging, and the truck that swerved from the taxi ideally would have had the capability to brake faster.

But we live in the real world, in the end it did happen, and that Taxi was merely doing what the others do because they are allowed to continue by impotent law enforcement and a society shirking responsibility because "it's not my job"

That is the main takeaway here I think..

Maybe...not sure encouraging confrontation with people who don't really care about the state of their vehicles is a good idea but each to their own...

If you are at the light and they push by on your left - you stop as far left as possible

This I have an issue with, as much as I hate seeing taxis buzzing up the emergency lane, if you move across and block it for no reason other than to screw them you are just as guilty of breaking the law...

Yeah, because taxis causing me mild inconvenience on the road and my family getting attacked and killed are totally the same thing...

Clearly didn't read or at worst comprehend

See my previous post regarding the 2 kids dying

It's chains of events started by 'inconvenience' for one party that lead to deaths. Maybe it just hasn't touched you and thus the attitude?

You don't have to cover entire lanes or edges to slow/stop them

Ah, so it's private citizens "shirking" their duty is it...? What would you have the average person do when they see a taxi driver doing something stupid....? The way you sit there and lecture people on their "societal duty" I imagine you must have done something a number of times with good results...? So please tell us all how we have let society down and how we should all follow your example...

If you are stopping them from proceeding past you, then you are, by definition, blocking the lane....
