Yes it is a straw man. And you've just made another.

You've now made it because someone refuses to let him in, he now gets mad and commits fatal accidents.

Aren't you a manager of some sort?
(I can't remember whether you mentioned it the [first and] last time I met you.)

If you don't manage people, then I totally get why you don't understand "expectations".
People are all about expectations. All the time. Everywhere.

It's not a straw man argument. I've seen all of that happen on multiple occasions. Taxi wants to cut in a queue, gets refused, decides f**** it and ignores the queue completely. Sidewalks, oncoming traffic and red lights. Welcome to Pretoria traffic- every day.Wonderboom poort on the way to Pretoria North. Don't even get me started. And I know it's not only Pta, it's everywhere.

If you've never seen this happen then you're either ignorant or blind, or not paying attention while driving.

We've met?

And I do understand expectations. Just not the theory that expecting someone to let you into traffic, and this not happening, leads to homicidal driving (as a general thing).

So now I'm ignorant? Sorry dude, I don't live in Pretoria. I'm fortunate enough that the route I take I don't see this it seems.

Only way to stop this taxi madness is to hold the taxi operator criminally liable with the owner civilly accountable by huge penalties and taxi impounded and forced to reapply for license and roadworthy when taxis are caught breaking the law.
Taxi driver runs a red light and gets caught? Vehicle impounded, operator charged with reckless driving and attempted manslaughter + PDP revoked forever, owner charged with substantial penalty and forced to reapply for full roadworthy and renewal of license. Taxi industry bosses should also be fined when certain threshold of incidents per region is reached.
Ordinary citizens should be able to use dashcam footage as proof and upload to police/metro as evidence.
We all know going fist v fist with a taxi driver is a very bad idea.
Get your reality checked.

Get your reality checked.

Well, in a way, this is already happening. When the taxi's recently blockaded CT, JP Smith got many of the taxi's impounded. And then I read an article where the owners could get them back, after paying the impound fee and divulging names of the taxi drivers who were involved. So that the drivers could be prosecuted.

About 2 weeks ago outside our offices a Taxi driver was arrogant and refused to comply with the police officer. He was then ripped out the Taxi and put to the ground followed by an arrest.

Did anything happen with the drivers of those taxis?

Provincial police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirmed the incident took place near Langa at around 07:40 on Friday. An attempted murder case has been opened for investigation.

Why do I get the feeling this is against the cop that shot the driver?

I don't know the story, and I have no idea what happened here, but I have to clarify something here. Just because a case is opened, doesn't mean anyone is charged. It's something the media uses to sell papers, and it sends the wrong message to civvies. In any shooting, even the most clear cut case, a case will be opened. It is standard operating procedure, and is required for the cops to do their job post shooting. So if someone dies, a murder case is opened. If someone is shot, an attempted murder case is opened. If someone is beaten off, an assault case is opened. It has to be opened, because it's illegal to shoot someone or to beat someone up, so technically it's a crime.

But, and this is the important thing that most media sources ignore, that doesn't mean anyone is charged with the crime. If the reason for the shooting or beating or whatever is justified, in other words, private defense, the cops won't ever charge the person, so that case is closed without anyone ending up being charged, or ending up in court having to defend themselves.

So just because a case is opened, it doesn't mean anyone is in trouble. Something to keep in mind for the future (for everyone). It's the "scary sound" of "a case is opened" that led to the confusion that criminals have more rights in South Africa and if you shoot someone in self-defense, you're going to jail. That's not true.

Our law is actually not that bad. It's pretty nice, actually.

I think you are wrong with the 'beaten off' part. I have never heard of an assault case being opened after beating someone off, its usually a Hallmark Thank You card that is sent.
