Cord cutters - how do you get your news fix?

Hi everyone

I have cut the cord a couple of months back, but now I'm starting to notice a gap which I did not anticipate. I miss TV news! I started scanning news headlines online and through some news apps, but I would like something that I can watch (or listen to), that will give me the day's most important local and international news.

These days, when I watch something it is on Netflix, Showmax, YouTube, Plex, etc. If I listen to something, it is a podcast, audio book, streaming music, etc.

I have looked at local news broadcasters' YouTube channels, but it seems like they prefer uploading snippets of stories instead of full bulletins or summaries.

I also came across an app called Haystack TV that looks ideal, but it is very US centric.

How do you guys get your news fix? Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks!

VPN to the UK, then watch SkyNews online. Or BBC News through the BBC iPlayer

or read the forum for news.
follow trusted news outlets on twitter.
and avoid bias news on state owned media outlets.

I also watch Philip De Franco for a nice neutral round up of US news.

but mostly my news comes from what is posted here.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll have a look at all of them and (probably) report back on what I decided to do.

You could consider DSTV Easyview

Not a fan of DSTV but heard about this as an option over the weekend...

Roku has a couple of free news channels Sky (need VPN) , CBS news , Aljazeera, Reuters, YouTube almost always has Fox News search Fox News live and youll get a live stream. local news there used to be an enca news stream open for viewers outside South Africa but seems like they removed it.Gupta channel Ann7 has a live stream for local news.

It is possible to use Facebook and Twitter to build very powerful news feeds that are very up to the minute with the latest news.

Filmon TV has itv news, BBC, Al Jazeera, RT and a few others. I'm sure you'll find something suitable on there. Then of course you can get Fox or even CNN on Kodi.

On that note, I'm now wondering how much mybb is actually shaping our minds/world view.... Actually, let's rather not go there

There are quite a wide spectrum of opinions on here.
I mean sure you will see the tinfoil hat guys.
The racists feckers
The over liberal hippie
The pro Muslim
The anti Muslim.
The religion basher
The Jesus freak

But the nice thing is you can ignore the areas where you know the public opinion is different to yours.
That is why I try stay out of the discussion in new sand current affairs, because everything there turns into an argument.

True true, but you do see what I see - how there's sort of a consistency here even in the conversations between people on the opposite sides of the aisle? Like, you get to know which threads will have which outcomes...it's nice to have access to a large wealth of knowledge here though - we all have something to contribute. What I just find annoying from time to time is that even though I usually check in here at least once an hour, I often run out of quality threads to read and am left to browse weird threads by Ninja'd (or worse, participate in a left vs right or religion thread!) or leave...the latter option (leave) has been rather appealing lately after the Manchester bombing
