Last question about a section 14! (normally I'd query this with Coronation or Allan Gray but they went home hours ago).

Allan Gray is asking me if I want to transfer units or money. How does the transfer of units work if the funds I want to invest in in Coronation are different to the original AG funds?

With ETF’s you can change providers without selling, and then buying again, if the fund at provider A is the same as provider B. Its 95% less in fees just changing the provider. I had to sell my TFSA funds as the provider didnt knew about “moving”, but now they do, 8 months later.

I think with RA’s its the same story.

Not really a record. In March the jse was 33000 points

But did you really move your stuff? You don't get to take credit for it if you didn't.

Yup. An hour after the 2 companies contacted me and said they'd started the move the market went pear-shaped.

Have RAs with AG, Coronation, 10x and Sygnia with abt 100k in each. They've all been pretty stagnant over the last 2 years or so. The problem is the SA economy more than the funds. At this point I'd be putting money offshore if I was still earning rands. I doubt there is much in SA that will be making money grow there.

Have you stopped regular monthly contributions perhaps with all these providers perhaps?

Yes. Stopped contributing 4.5 years ago.

I made some moves 3 months ago regarding my long term investments (RA's / preservation funds) ....

I moved some cash into interest bearing accounts

The result, my investments now is free (as I am getting more interest than costs). Think about that, its a smart move for sure ! It wont cost me 1c going forward

That is quite a prediction you have there. I make a prediction that after the drop, it will rise again.

Most RA funds seem to be doing rather scarily well since last week. There was a huge drop a month ago.

Yes. Stopped contributing 4.5 years ago.

I suspect that is the problem. Fees must be eroding whatever little you get.

My static Coronation RA has grown 7.6% from 30 Sept 2019.
