Corrupt dialer or something...

I've only used the mywireless dialer software a few times and then I switched over to using a router. The last few times I plugged in the usb to get to their software (coz you need that info when you want to call the helpdesk) their software just bombs. Doesn't want to load or is corrupt or something. I wonder if I must reinstall the software from the cd over itself or run the repair that pops up when you load the cd. I don't want to mess with it too much as it is working on the router, but now I'm supposed to get the new upgrade. Argh. I hate fiddling with things when they are semi working :p

I've had that before when switching between the Ethernet and USB cables. A few (about 6 or so) restarts of the dialer software normally "fixes" it - i.e. it doesn't crash. The same happens if you actually use the dialer software with the Ethernet cable

I have the same problem although I never switched between usb and ethernet - I only used the dialer a few times and subsequently setup windows dun instead. Now when I try to use the dialer to get the latest firmware upgrade it bombs - says its connecting and then gives a failure message something to extent of no device could be found. Proasm's MySignal dialer still works well, though. Why don't they just make the software available separately or alternatively allow the mywireless dialer to start even though you're already connected so that you can still at least use the download tab??

Thanks for the info. I haven't done the upgrade yet. Think I'll wait because I know something is going to go wrong. Whenever I switch from ethernet to usb I always battle to get it back.

Finally took the plunge and upgraded yesterday. Since then my 10% (2 lights) signal has become no lights but still flying. Don't know the exact percentage but it can't be much. Can just be a coincidence that the signal dropped, but with mywireless nothing is a coincidence. Well, I suppose as long as it works I shouldn't moan.

Things to do when things don't work

1. If Changing between usb/ethernet cable, make sure to reboot the modem once the new cable is plugged in.
2. Dialler, as well as mysignal go mad, if the modem is in use by anything else.
Ensure if using ICS, dial on demand is disabled, if possible remove ICS alltogether,
if things aren't working VPS's / incoming connections, ANY OF THESE WILL TRY TO USE
MODEM, And cause dialler to bomb out when it can't get full access.
