Corruption is the cause of Eskom load shedding

Can you say how much of our base load capacity is online? Btw, I know someone at Eskom and he's been called in to "rescue" at least 3 stations and the things he found on plant walk-downs will frighten you. And that whole effort to de-mothball power stations was also badly managed, overspent by huge margins and delivered years late - that would have averted load-shedding.

There was one case where they burnt out a turbine because no one thought to ensure that the thing had over-temperature protection (and how the hell do you lose your cooling medium and not think to shutdown the equipment it is cooling before it even overheats?). I mean that is basic functional safety and ought to have been picked up in safety determination studies.

1. Anecdotal
2. He said, she said...
3. Even if all of that were true, what has it go to do with corruption. Sounds like incompetency.

You sound like a politician, even if I brought allegations of corruption you'd still deny their veracity until proven by a court. I am not trying to prove anything. The ANC has destroyed this country's capability to fight corruption effectively so it's a free for fall and nothing can be proven. The addition of extra capacity was late yes, because the Mbeki admin wanted to bring in IPPs instead of funding it from the public purse, but the IPP program failed for lack of takers because of our low electricity rates.

But the extent of load-shedding could still have been lessened if it weren't for the wanton mismanagement, corruption and corruption which beset Eskom. The existing generating capacity should have been well maintained but we know all about management strategies to allow coal buffers to deplete, maintenance costs cut to the bone just so management can be seen to turn a profit and earn fat bonuses.

You might claim anecdotal evidence, but at least I can reason out my anecdotes.

So you know the actual reason why we are in this mess? But you choose to ignore them because they do not fit your agenda. Who is sounding like a politician now?
I agree with your second paragraph entirely. I also agree that the ANC govt has crippled the institutions that are meant to fight corruption. Corruption is absolutely a scourge in our country, but to ignore the real reason and blame corruption is disingenuous. You and Vavi are the same. Your hate is clouding your judgement and causing you to be illogical.

Vavi, Numsa and Cosatu lost all credibility they might have had, or thought they had. All they need to do is revaluate what it is they stand for and what they believe. IMO they're at the centre of all that's going south in SA. I believe they can make a positive contribution in SA by re-educating their constituents about work ethics, sense of ownership and responsibility, etc. Hitherto is it seems for Cosatu, et all to survive, they needed an ignorant and dependent constituent, who thought that the world owed them something. So Vavi must go away, he and his friends are the problem, they have nothing to offer but create conditions for corruption to thrive.

Shortly after the deal was concluded, it is reported that four Eskom employees were suspended for questioning the quality of the coal.

The problem is the ANC's corruption oozes from their pores. It's a way of life with these people, not one specific act or non-act that brainwashed fools like Ngwe23 can thump his chest about in denial.

Case in point, silencing the whistleblowers is standard operating procedure. What change does good honest people have against the corrupt hive when the structures that are supposed to provide guidance & support are used against them?

We've known since 2009 that Zuma has been paying back Gupta favours using state resources, but ironically the dumb masses are screwing themselves out of a decent life in order to protect their pseudo-king and his band of crimbos.

Africa is just so sad.
