Corsair PSU gets really loud during gaming

Hi guys,
I have a Corsair 750HX PSU and whenever I start up BF3 the PSU gets really loud, the fan makes more noise than my GPU which has 3 fans. Is this normal? The room isn't very hot and it downs out everything else by the time my GPU gets to 60 degrees.

Specs are:
4770K
Gigabyte R9 280X windforce
CM 690 V3 Case
Gigabyte UD5H
2 ram modules
3 Hard drives
1 SSD

Surely that isn't to much for a 750W PSU from a decent brand.

Thanks in advance

Could be a bad fan, the HX units are excellent though. Try RMA it where you purchased it. Alternatively try it in another case or cleaning it if you keep it on your carpet with no ventilation etc.

Might be acting as a vacuum cleaner lol.

I had a look and the bottom of my case has a dust filter which was clean, I removed it to see if that was cause lower airflow which needed a higher fan speed but still same problem.

Blow out the PSU with compressed air or a cool hair dryer, just blast it from the bottom and let the air fly out.

If it was covered with a dust cover there shouldn't be any dust in the PSU itself should it? Also this rig is only about 5 months old.

I would take it back... might just be a dud fan

Apparently this PSU is meant to be quite quiet. Problem is it was an insurance replacement and I picked it up from Rectron and I think they only deal with resellers. (My old psu was still in warranty if that helps).

I think dead quiet is very subjective, I've had three HX series PSUs (750w, 1050w and 1200w) and all three were much noisier than my current PSU (Be Quiet Dark Power Pro 10 1200w). The HX1050 was by far the noisiest of the three for me.

I don't mind some noise, I'm generally not that sensitive to it but it's about double the noise of my GPU which is quite loud on its own.

Could it not be coil whine?

I'll google to check what that sounds like but it mostly just sounds like it's spinning super fast but not really whine like.

I googled a bit and it seems like the psu does have a loud fan. Don't know if it's a problem or not.

The last HX850 I had, had serious coil whine under load. But my old HX1000 is still prefect.
The AX860 also running great still. Dunno what's up with the quality control on the current HX series but they discontinued now anyway.

My ax850w can have coil whine under medium load but in games it's quiet with no coil whine

Do you think it's meant to be louder than a 3 fan graphics card?

Corsair will RMA it, Rectron probably won't :(

That means I have to send it to the USA right?

That's disappointing, it's meant to be a high end PSU.

Mine makes the most noise under high load (not more than the PSU should be able to handle though).

I've never had a psu whining but the GPU yes.
I'd RMA that psu.
I won't pay for a top level psu only to accept that it has problems.
