Seems that the communication range theory by Leta Stetter Hollingworth can gather lots of evidence here in S.A.

The concept of communication range was established by Leta Hollingworth. It is +/- 2 standard deviations (roughly 30 points) up or down on one’s own IQ. It denotes the range where meaningful interaction (communication, discussion, conversation and socializing) is possible. If the IQ difference between two persons is more than 30 points, the communication breaks up. The higher IQ person will look like an incomprehensible nerd and the lower IQ as a moronic dullard – and they will not find anything common.

I do wonder if, under the new POPI act, it is legal to publish learners' names along with their matric results.

I've heard so many stories about people working hard and getting ahead in life (obviously had a good intellect) only to be murdered by some jealous dck that grew up with him under poverty. It seems in some places equality (all equally dumb) is cultural. This move to block people's identities being linked to performance may actually be installed to protect the performers.

No surprise that the countries with highest IQs tend to celebrate excellence meanwhile in the West excellence is now not celebrated because... equality and social justice.

Names are no longer being published and has been the case for a while as far as I know.

I don't know what Cosas' issue is with the current method.

Names not, but some identifier that may be abused.

True but I am looking at alternatives that would make sure the learner is still protected and they all have flaws in one way or the other. The learner can go to school to get their results and have to face teachers and fellow learners, it can be tough if you did not do well, both teachers and learners can be very mean.

Sending sms? If the assumption is that everyone has a personal cellphone. What else?

All these measures just seem like sound dampers to conceal a noisy, faulty engine and nobody has the will and/or ability to fix the engine.

Faulty engines or not I very much agree with them that individual matric results should be the personal business of the matriculants involved. I just don't agree about the manner they are approaching this.
