May be built. May get landing rights. May get agreement. May get buy in from private sector. Blah blah blah.

Yeah, why bother at all? Who needs cables? We have world class broadband in SA already, huh?

Nice to read a balanced article on this issue for a change instead of the usual sensationalist claptrap.

I suspect AdLo means that endless talk does not equal action, it is time to get on with it instead of the constant delaying crap we've had from guavamentals Poison Ivy & Stalin-Mafole.

just run the cable already....

all we hear is talk about the damn cables they are going to run.

stop talking and run the cables already. Stop procrastinating and start working.

Right that's it. I'm off down to the cable shop, buy me a 6000km reel of underwater cable. Then down to the docks, find a ship headed to somewhere nice, quietly feed cable over the side. All be done in 4-6 weeks.

Sorted, anyone else in? ;)

Damn, I knew there was something. I'll see if I can find someone with a RIB and a dive mask, they can roar across, have a peep down every few km and check for volcanos and trenches - should do it :)

Also worked out that I need a bit more than 6000km, better chuck in another 3000km for safety.

Now where's my fibre splicing kit...
