TELKOM will keep encouraging staff to take voluntary severance packages in an effort to get personnel costs down to the level it pledged last year.
The fixed-line monopoly said in its 2005 annual report, filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, it would keep trying to lower employee expenses from 23,2% of revenue this year to 17%, close to international standards.

,,close to international standards,,,
How convinient, Its 'A' OK to get yourselves (TELKOM) in line with world standards through comparisons when it means rentrenching people to save a buck, and increase your execs bonuses, but not OK to use the same comparisons when looking at pricing.
This proudly South African thing is to kewl

But of course - they can make all the international comparisons they want when it suits them. How about line fees and speeds of international standards?
