Who are they going to buy the electricity from when Eskom wont supply because they haven't paid.
Wasn't there a court case where they established eskom can't cut off the municipality?
Who are they going to buy the electricity from when Eskom wont supply because they haven't paid.
The sales of electricity and their subsequent markups after purchasing electricity from Eskom, will come directly to them, including any big industry that falls in that Municipality. How so
Regional, not restructure.Correct........it was actually a concept named REDS......Restructure of Electricity Distribution. There was a lot of talk, but that was about it. I think the stumbling blocks amongst other things were compensation for assets and loss of revenue for Eskom.
I think its a 6 of one half a dozen of the other really...Regional, not restructure.
Electricity is a goodly source of income for the council that's why they want to control it. Which is bad for us as they don't use the revenue to look after the infrastructure.
Corrupt municipalities aside, the good thing about the municipalities being in control of the electricity distribution is they can then potentially buy from independent power producers.
If the local distribution is controlled by Eskom, then non-corrupt municipalities are going to have a hard time getting anything other than Eskom power onto their grid.
Let the municipalities control their own grid and buy from whoever they want. If they fall into arrears, then Eskom can shut them off and Eskom can argue in court that they aren't denying people of a basic human right, because there are many other independent power producers the defunct municipality can buy from.
Could you completely misread reality anymore if you tried, and you do try quite often. Its more a push from the DA led municipalities, where they will own all the infrastructure, so they they can choose their own provider other than Eskom. Same with the fight against Metrorail. Metro has been given a deadline in which to fix up their train service, if they dont, they are out and a new provider would be installed.
This is great news for South Africa as Eskom (the cash cow of the ANC) may be on their way out.
Was Mybroadband recently taken over by IOL? Its chucking out a lot of propoganda stories and not many factual.
