Good news about Covid-19 third wave in South Africa — but it's not over

All of the indicators currently show that South Africa's third wave of coronavirus infections is subsiding, CSIR researcher Jabu Mtsweni has stated.

However, the wave is still far from over, and Mtsweni recommended that people remain vigilant.

Someone please help me with this. The 7day avg is down 24% on positive cases. But the test done in also 24% down. So if we test 10 healthy people and none test positive we have no more covid?

People get tested because they feel sick or were in contact with a sick person. Less people feel sick. Less tests

Mostly correct except last week in KZN and to a lesser extent, Gauteng there were a lower number of conducted tests simply because pharmacies etc. were closed in some areas.

Kzn and gauteng makes sense with less cases, but why does it look like Western Cape peak has also turned on Mediahack? Im hoping it means actual cases are peaking nationally.

Since the UK unlocked despite the record new cases, can we move to a death rate model too instead of cases? Cause death rate has been trending downwards...

You assume these outstanding citizens were following protocols before the riots.

Because mask don't work and they were mostly running around outside in the open and the people doing the looting are unlikely to get tested for covid and probably had it and some immunity already.

Given that the stated purpose of lock down is to prevent the health care system becoming overwhelmed, perhaps the number of cases requiring hospital admission would be a good yardstick (although presumably there is some sort of correlation between this and the death rate.)

I'm not going to argue.

The fact of prior infection effectively doing what the vaccine does (only better) is simply that, fact.

Because if what you say is true, then the absence of rampant infections in the areas that had the most instances of Beta infection earlier this year is a problem in your analysis.
