Vaccinations for people under 60 to start next week

Gauteng premier David Makhura said they will start to register and vaccinate people under 60 next week.

Speaking in a provincial budgetary address, Makhura said the government will start with the registration and vaccination of 50- to 59-year-olds from next week.

The registration and vaccination process for people over the age of 40 will start soon after that.

The Gauteng premier added that vaccinations for law enforcement officials will start on 1 July 2021.

I thought vaccinations were a national health competency. How can they do it differently in one province? Do they have enough doses?
Yeah I was coming here to ask the exact same thing. Whats stopping other provinces to do the same.

Seems entirely premature, or perhaps intentionally divisive:

They just covered that on News saying some complain cause over 60 lack know-how or means to register online and except walk ins for over 60 as from now. (Will register and jab same time)

See swarms flocking to sites tomorrow :D

Walk-ins are not going to help much if there aren't enough supplies for both first and second doses:
South Africa's slow vaccination rollout has been marred by procurement delays, supply constraints, and regulatory setbacks.

It was announced a while ago that over 40's could register from 1st July. Pity it's just typical politician BS that this will happen and that vaccination will be done

That 'road-map' was announced before the J&J contamination issue derailed all the plans...

Report does not make sense. How can they start by next week with under 60's vaccinations if no-one under 60 could yet register? The first question to register asks if you are 60 or older... Journalists really need to consider what they are reporting.
