Hey!

I'm currently managing a site for a business I work for as part of my job (although my job isn't in the IT field, I'm the only one who has some experience in this). I'm having trouble with the way redirects are working for our site and setting up a Wordpress site using Softaculous.

So our main site is at site.co.za/n (for example) and so I have a redirect setup so that if someone goes to site.co.za it directs to site.co.za/n. This works fine and if someone is accessing another part of the site, say site.co.za/portal then it works and it doesn't redirect. It only redirects if you visit just site.co.za, and any other sub-directory either goes to the sub-directory or has a 404 if it doesn't exist.

However, when I try to setup a Wordpress site on the server through Softaculous (in cPanel), it sets it up fine, but it gets redirected. Say I setup the Wordpress site at site.co.za/wp . Then if I go to the Worpress control panel at site.co.za/wp/wp-admin which is the admin page, it works just fine and goes there. But if I go to just site.co.za/wp then it redirects to site.co.za/n as if the /wp weren't part of the url.

This has stumped me and Google isn't helping. I once setup a Wordpress site on the server like this and it worked fine however I completely removed it to start over and now I am having this issue.

If anyone has any advice it would greatly be appreciated!
Thanks :)

What is the wordress site URL set to? From what I understand you are saying, when the user is on the site that has been redirected, then they can not browse any local links within that site?

That sound like the internal Wordpress site URL is confused with where its supposed to take internal links.
Go to Settings --> General and play around with the site URL there.

Sorry if i've misunderstood your problem.
