Disclaimer : I have all of the aforementioned requirements , including the honours degree and the experience.

You are a little off on the salary for that type of worker , but not by much. An additional 15-20% would secure you a great candidate.

Remember - anyone of that stature is going to be employed. You are now in headhunting mode. You are not offering any more than they are currently earning (R34k-R38k is about stock standard for this level in CPT) , so they will be unlikely to move. Another 10% is not going to get them to move , so 20% should do it.

I only bothered to respond to this post because the rest of the ad is a model of how job ads for tech workers should look. Short , critical info included , and to the point.

I'm not in the job market at the moment. That post was just an idea of what would be required to attract the candidate you want.

The company is offering more. Assuming the position is R36K. Add the recruiter's CV forwarding cut of R36K for the first year. and you get R39K(36*13/12) per month.

That is not how it works and it isnt just forwarding a cv :)
I'd imagine posting the ad, filtering the CV sending to client and phoning the candidates and employee to arrange the interview. Some recruiters do criminal checks, verify academic records as well.

Is your fee 1/12 of the 1st year salary?

Recruiters that filter cv's and first send to the client before even speaking with the candidate is unethical. Clients and candidates should not want to deal with recruiters who do that, if a recruiter cannot pick up the phone and discuss the opportunity with you or even send you an email, then they aren't doing their jobs well at all.

Well roles, especially for Devs are not the easiest to place, firstly not many candidates are looking, many of them are happily employed, then secondly, the candidates that are available get snatched up so quickly, so you don't just have recruiters but companies all fighting for the same candidate. Once you actually get a candidate that might seem interested, it is up too you to do as much research as possible on your client and the role before even starting to have a conversation, nothing worse than being approached by someone who doesn't even know the role.

Yes then the profiles get done, the references get done and which ever relevant checks. For a spec like the above, it can take weeks to match a client and a candidate together, it isn't an easy task, because a Developer might meet all the requirements and specifications for the role, however not keen on working for that particular client or visa versa, so getting the culture match is also extremely important.

Developers in SA are not desperate, so advertising doesn't always yield positive results, but definitely worth a try.

Fee's are all calculated differently dependant on agency and client, some agencies bill a straight fee and others bill fees over 3 months. One of the reasons why so many companies use recruiters is due to the time it takes to go through the process, sometimes you are lucky and sometimes you are not. We then compile Market Intel and revert back to the client to inform them that salaries need to be higher, or they need to look for candidates with a certain skill set, or anything that would assist the client in finding the right talent.

There are great recruiters out there that I have seen on MyBB that have been referred and they are awesome because they fulfil their promises to their candidates and clients. Recruitment definitely becomes a lot easier if you have a great reputation in the industry.

To a client or candidate the fee shouldn't matter if you have made the perfect match. But to answer your question, no, it would be higher than 1/12 of the annual salary, but as previously said, all depends on the client and what your Service Level Agreement would be.

That's a great ad. And interesting and transparent explanation in the post above. If I was in CT and another year down the line I'd probably be interested.

I know when I was hired the recruitment company took 17% of the gross annual income I was offered.

Good ad btw. Sounds like a nice starter position.

I like the format of the post, should be a template :), and I agree with retro that it is a bit low.

I too have all the above requirements and there is no benefit in moving, at all.
