Is your phone overclocked? I've seen this twice on my phone if memory serves me right. Also Defy on stock 2.2.

Why not? I also read that article and thought it was rubbish. I regularly use task killers and my phone is always faster after I close background apps that I don't need. I've never had any app break due to using task killers. I recommend you do it.

I think you misunderstand the reason not to use task killers.

You get 2 types: one that kills apps simply because they take up memory and another that is based on CPU usage.

CPU usage is perfectly OK I for example I use Watchdog on all my Android devices. It only tells me when an App (esp background apps) use the CPU when they should not.

If you want to understand it better read http://lifehacker.com/5650894/andro...ed-what-they-do-and-why-you-shouldnt-use-them

Oh forgot to add in your case if you install Watchdog Task manager, you will be able to find out what app is causing the problem so you know what to uninstall/address to sort out the problem once and for all.
