Day room at a local airport hotel. How about 22/23 hours layover, both directions, flying with Turkish between SA and Mexico.
I usually get a 2-3 hour layover at Doha when I am flying Qatar.3hrs in Doha airport is not a lot. I'd even worry if my layover was shorter than that. Keep in mind once you disembark you have to go through a new set of bag-check security just to get from your gate to the airport hub...which can have long lines....not mentioning walking to your next gate.
The airport itself is quite large and relatively kid friendly (the giant teddy in the middle being the "meet here when lost" point for just about everyone).
Whenever I fly through Doha I usually have an 8-10hr layover, which is when I tend to pay the $80 it costs to get into the Oryx lounge (there is another lounge but its usually crammed with people who consider themselves VIP). Free food, quiet zones, as well as very nice showers etc so I tend to pack extra undies, shirt & socks into my carry-on to freshen up for the next leg due to the humidity. The $80 feels a lot, until you factor in how much food you get compared to paying 1/3 of that for a sandwich at vendors.
Have fun!
Deplane isn't a word. It's an abomination created by Americans who lack a decent vocabulary.I usually get a 2-3 hour layover at Doha when I am flying Qatar.
If you are on a twin engine jet like the 777 or 787 then they will generally park on the apron and shuttle you to the airport. This is when you need to go through security.
However if you are on the A380 they deplane the aircraft using the passenger boarding bridge and then you don't got through security. I think the only time you go through security is if you are physically step out of the airport building, then they consider you a security risk.

I have accounts at pretty much all banks and use the following.I know it's been covered in other threads but can't find it.
Is Capitec still the best bank to swipe and draw money when travelling internationally?
Having flown Heathrow/Johannesburg twice return and once one-way now with Qatar, on a 777 and on an A380 I am speaking from experience. I have flown through Qatar a few times and only when flying on the A380 did we disembarc through the bridge directly into the terminal building.Regardless of how you disembark, you should pass through security again. The exception being if an agreement is made between the airport of departure and the airport of arrival regarding their security screening practices.
Fine! Disembarc or alight.Deplane isn't a word. It's an abomination created by Americans who lack a decent vocabulary.
Yet somehow you managed to glean its true meaning. Well done.Deplane isn't a word. It's an abomination created by Americans who lack a decent vocabulary.
At least you agree that it is indeed a bastardisation.Yet somehow you managed to glean its true meaning. Well done.
I always find it a little hypocritical when South Africans criticise American bastardisations of the English language.
