Been with VirginMoney for 6 years as well, no issues, and they deliver the card to you :) no need to stand in a line at the bank

Great! I just applied online for one of their cards - will kill off my FNB Gold card tomorrow as the annual card fee is due in a few days so I will be able to avoid it.

Virgin were very eager to give me a massive credit facility - scaled it back as it is just for emergencies...

That's why I canned my CC and went to Virgin, no fees. R300+ pa for CC card renewals...must be joking. Be VERY cautious of the limit they give...I took the max limit cos thought...hey, why not. Few months later...went through difficult time for a year, and bought stuff on credit and only managed to pay back the min amount. When I came out the slump...had a fair whack to pay back. Paid it back a few months later and then told them to bring my limit right down.

So be careful, sure...a bit limit can be a life saver...but it can kick you in the nuts when you down too... :erm:

Thankfully I treat credit like a TB patient - they could give me a million rand limit and I wouldn't touch it unless I have the bucks in my cheque account to settle immediately.

Read an article on there last night which convinced me to apply for a Virgin Money CC.... Good site!

I think they may be a subsidiary of ThinkMoney, in which case don't enter your details anywhere on that site.
They will spam the crap out of you, and when you get them to stop they spam you illegally.

So you can use this CC for anything? Like when travelling abroad, paying for services like Netflix etc :whistling:

It's a normal mastercard credit card, so yes to all of the above.

Thanks for the quick reply! After reading through this thread and all you guys responses, I'm sold. I guess I will be signing up soon.

I emailed Virgin Money this morning to check that everything was in order. Received a prompt reply to advise that my account was sorted and the card would be with me in 3 to 5 working days. I am impressed so far.......

Meanwhile I see my Gold CC with FNB has vanished from my online banking profile - just in time to avoid this years annual subs :)

14% is what they charge you when you owe THEM.
2.5% is what they pay you when they owe YOU.

Yes but I have money, if they offered 14% credit interest I'd open a CC account with them and just keep lots of cash there. :)

R330 PA isn't a lot of money if you think about it! It is more convenient to carry a credit card around with you than cash(every time you withdraw cash you get charged a ATM cash withdrawn fee of around R1,10 per R100 alternatively you can go to any PEP,SHOPRITE,CHECKERS,PNP to withdraw money now days and get charged a fix fee of between R1 - R4 (depending on your bank). Some retailers have a cash withdrawn limit(depends if it is a franchise store).

I always carry 3 credit cards with me at all times. I am a frequent flyer travelling abroad and some merchants don't accept certain Credit Cards VISA/MASTER CARD or American Express or worse you get an error report cause there is a communication problem to connect to the bank.

I have been a loyal customer of Virgin Money since the inception no complaints with them - only complaint I have is many cashiers have never seen a Virgin Money Credit Card or Clicks Credit Card *backed by FNB* and American Express(Nedbank)..

Virgin Money don't nail you hard unlike other banking institution. *If you don't settle your account fully*

true, not many people know the virgin credit card

When I used the old Clicks Credit Card - automatically the cashier didn't want to accept the credit card and had to ask the supervisor! I got cheeky with her and told her to get glasses and read the fine print

Just got this sms from Virgin CC

Staying in the loop. Please note as of July 2014 your notify me service on your Virgin Money Credit Card will now be charged at 50c per sms and will be VMCC branded. For more info call us on 0861822273

I really dont get why we should be charged for these notifications, surely it helps with fraud etc and should be seen as a security measure and not as a value add....
