Well the only way to really know is give them a run in the team i reckon.

We need to be a bit like the bokke at the moment and try them out even if we lose. We need to build for the future because a few of our players are getting on a bit.

I'm disappointed that Bosman wasn't given a chance. He played well in both T20s, and even though it's a different format, it still shows his skill if left to play his natural game.
Loots Bosman, who last week came within a six-hit of the second century in Twenty20 history, has not even been selected for the ODI squad, which can be taken either as an oversight or a show of South Africa's strength in depth.

I like mcclaren. Feel he will fill the bowling allrounder role in the odi side very well.

The problem is who would you drop to make space for him?

I like mcclaren. Feel he will fill the bowling allrounder role in the odi side very well.

Aye between him Albie and Roelf we will fill Kallis' role once he retires.

I like the setup of:

Smith
Kallis
Amla (3) / Peterson (5) / gibbs (3) Another batsman
AB
Duminey
Albie
Boucher
Mclaren
Roelf vd merwe
Botha (if he ever recovers his bowling variation) / Parnell / M Morkel / Tsostobe / another bowler
Steyn

Then we have:
  • 4 proper bowlers (steyn / McL / Roelf / +1 of the above)
  • 3 Bowlers to make up the 5th bowler ( Kallis, Duminy, Albie)
  • We bat up to nr 9 (maybe even 10 if a "good" tail ender, which botha, M Morkel and Parnell, are.)

The current squad is just for the first 3 ODIs. Barring an exceptional opening pair performance by Kallis and Smith, he should be in the squad for the subsequent games.

Based on what?? The guys is a good t20 player, he hasn't done much for the dolphins in the 40 over domestic comp so far this season. Sorry but Bosman doesn't deserve a place in the 50 over side.

Well i am not unhappy about the rain my aunt over in PE i think can only bath once a week because they have such bad water shortages.

So i would rather a few lost cricket matches and be able to shower twice a day :D.

Big blow especially with the bowling. Hashim has never let us down when he has gottent the chance in the odi's and I am sure he will do a good job again. The bowling is the bigger worry since now jp and albie need to bowl 10 overs between them.

For the tests if he doesn't make it, prince probably moves down the order and one of puttick, khan or cook gets a chance.

Kallis ruled out of one-day series

Jacques Kallis has been ruled out of the one-day series against England with a fractured rib and is also doubtful for the opening Test at Centurion Park on December 16.

It is thought Kallis suffered the injury during last month's Champions League in India but the seriousness of the problem was only revealed in recent days when he underwent a scan after the pain hadn't disappeared.

"He just wasn't getting better from that injury," Mickey Arthur, the South Africa coach, said. "We had him re-scanned this morning and found there is a fracture in the cartilage of the rib - which clearly affects his performances for the next four weeks.

His absence will be a significant blow to South Africa and means they will need to adjust the balance of their side to cover for the loss of a batsman and a bowler.

Kallis was set to partner Graeme Smith at the top of the order in a reshaped batting line-up, but now there will have to be another rethink. Hashim Amla is the likely replacement as opener, but the selectors may be tempted to call up Loots Bosman after his exceptional performances during the Twenty20 series including a 45-ball 94 in the second match at Centurion Park.

The opening game of the series at the Wanderers was abandoned without a ball bowled on Friday but the forecast is better for Sunday's meeting at Centurion.
