Cricket World Cup 2023 in India

So you need 4.5 runs an over but you are going for 6's.
What the heck is going on.

The coach must take some of the blame for this then. He should tell them to go for 1's and 2's and put away the bad ball and you will win it.

I've seen Aus and other teams in this position and they consolidate, not go for glory.

We are our own worst enemy and the stupidity is starting to annoy me.

If they fail, they mustn't come back to SA and say, oh we tried our best. No you batted like idiots.

And where are the commentators in this? Polly has mentioned it like once that the run rate doesn't equal the way they are batting.
Just no leadership.

As for the approach. There are 2 schools of thoughts in coaching when it comes to chasing:

1. The conservative approach you guys are advocating.
2. The approach England used to win the 2019 WC. Which is keep going hard.

You need to adapt in the game. Sure go hard if you can. But at some point somebody needs to realize it isn't on and wickets are dropping to quickly.

Well done. Close game but a win. Normal SA behaviour for group stages anyways.

Why can't we celebrate the win but still realize that there are issues to address and that it should not have been this close.

Agreed but look at the positives. We chased (weakness) and it was one of the biggest total chased against Pakistan. Still think we are one allrounder short unless Coetzee can somehow show some bating pedigree. Think we finish 2nd/3rd and face india in the final.

in the end maharaj had to do the job which frankly was luck given that he as captain knew he was opening us up to the lower end if out

We didn’t choke, because as someone else commented, we had 2 Indians "om die wa deur die drif te trek"

Why the **** go hard for the runs when you got a **** ton of overs in hand, for Fek sakes?
