EskomSePush and other apps used for drug-dealing, child trafficking in South Africa

Criminals in South Africa are abusing social media and utility apps like Telegram and EskomSePush to target children and run drugs, Carte Blanche reports.

The issue is especially prevalent on platforms with "find users nearby" functions, which are often used to pedal illicit goods.

I have a Malawian friend who makes a living of brokering movements across the Beitbridge border post. He tells of how well oiled the illegal movement machine is, to the point that it hinders legal movement of trucks and passport-holding travellers in favour of serving the illegal side of things.
He tells of how the ANC Border-patrol officers employ people to run between the official passport desk and the illegal side of things and how some of the delays are caused by officers having to wait for their stamping tools to be returned by the runners.
They also employ robbers to target those who travel on foot/bicycle, paying them with confiscated goods in exchange for stolen items.
