People, SAPS is more show than bite. Gone are the days of discipline and respect. And no one in his right mind will blame the population for not respecting the police. This is South Africa 2019. Live with it.

"Earlier this month, police minister Bheki Cele revealed in parliament that the SAPS had "lost" over 9.5 million rounds of ammunition and had 4537 firearms stolen in the last six years. "

There is our SAPS problem. If they cant police their own internal weapons, then how in the name of ****ing **** can they police a country ?

No one lost anything, these are all **** being sold internally by the police. No industry can be this completely clueless at this scale. If that was the case then we should also not blame Eskom for its failures and all other SOE's, it cant be corruption or theft but purely bad management.

Just give up.

Bad management leads to exploitation. So, it is both. Take into account the number of police known o have criminal records, then it makes perfect sense if poor management leads to the creation of opportunities for exploitation.

Take the Gavin Watson crash example. That vehicle is known to be a high profile case. yet the police do NOTHING to ensure this vehicle is not treated as "just another" case and ensure it receives special attention.

That is where bad management starts. Right there. So, even IF the accident turns out to be a simple case of a driver losing control of the vehicle if the forensic evidence has been compromised already, many are going to reject the findings whatever they are, simply because there is no opportunity for a 3rd party review. The car is just a heap of scrap already.

Everyone is up in arms
But I see a new Tender opportunity :giggle:
Selling back to the police 10 million rounds and 4000 odd weapons, known to meet the "specifications of a tender" --- sounds like a "deal the police procurement committee will be hard-pressed to NOT award".

I have just heard the South African police will scale down even more. 3000 policemen will go first! Already as is, just about every police station in South Africa has a shortage of man power. Money is an issue. So sad.

I've got about 5000 reloads in my safe and enough MS200, cases and bullets to reload another 5000. Gladly willing to sell the SAPS some ammo in exchange for a 2 week turn around on my next few license applications.

9.5M rounds of ammunition
4537 guns

2093 rounds of ammunition per gun.

Just how the ****?
Almost 10.000.000 rounds of ammunition stolen? How does this figure compare to other countries? Or is time for: Only in South Africa

Gangsters, the bulk of it went to gangsters.
oh PLEASE man -- use a bit of brain power
Just start by thinking about the logistics
Any idea what size of a pile this much ammunition is ?
How long would it take to pilfer away this amount of ammunition -- bit by bit ?
How many people would need to be involved in the gangsta "supply-chain" ?

WHEN is there going to be some sort of proper forensic audit ?
The Curious -- are -- CURIOUS !
