Some of the known problems at Medupi and Kusile are that the boiler height is too low for the slow-burning coal found in South Africa, which leads to a number of boiler operating problems.
Oh lord it's the prasa trains too tall thing again..

4800mw and it's not been on the grid, it was supposed to be added, but as per everything the ANC touches it's turned to sewerage.
No, 5600MW is correct according to the article. That's 7 units that should already be completed and commissioned. Possibly even 8 units, if you consider actual generation a criterion.

And in another decade we'll have the same article only with 11 replaced by 21. It's become clear that everything in this country is simply a part of the gravy train and not for actual function.

 hilarious.
Would be if it wasn't so serious.

Coincidence that this story came just a day after "Eskom wants higher electricity prices" story.........................

NOT!!!

This will probably be their driving force behind tariff hikes.
Eskom can probably justify price hikes. Thing is that just because they can doesn't mean they should. Batteries are becoming cheaper every year so they don't even have to lift a finger to price themselves out of the market and should be reducing prices to become competitive. But that's monopolistic behaviour for you.
