Anyone who has any of these cars? My friend has the 1.6 and what I know is that it is heavy on the petrol!!! Other than that it is a big comfortable car that rides well on the high way... It takes me 11 hours and 2 tanks to drive from Cape Town to Idutywa (1200km) (via n1).

Daewoo... get a Hyundai or Kia if Korean is your thing

It's my opinion that out of the Korean manufactures Hyundai/Kia has progressed the most over the years.
If the far east is your thing... Japanese.

I've driven a few Cruzes (rental cars) and all I can say is they are not bad, but the competition is better.

I haven't driven the new 1.4 turbo engine, but for me the Cruze was a classic 'american' car. Comfortable enough, but very plasticky inside and suspension made out of marshmallows. It does have a lot of space tho. Unless the latest model has had a major revamp I just wouldn't pick it first.

Of the ones I've driven, the Fiesta Ecoboost was the nicest.

It makes no sense to me to buy a new car, you get far better value for money going second-hand or even demo.

The 1.4T is an Opel engine, it is pretty nippy and in the Cruze it gives a rather enjoyable ride.

I drove my Sisters Cruze in Australia (2.0l diesel Auto), man was I impressed with that. Why they don't bring that model here ?!? Got about 800km on a tank on a long trip. Plenty power and comfy.

Opel Astra or Kia Cerato

Thread title fail..."Cruze 1.4 T (turbo) vs Cruze 1.6" would be much better & clearer.
