Especially when a particular mod only ever posts when a certain ISP is mentioned in a negative way...

In your opinion is it correct for a rep from another ISP to solicit for business in a thread complaining about an ISP?

I was probably the biggest fanboy of CW on here.
They were really good.

I am now with Afrihost, as of the 7th of July.
The last couple of months were..... interesting.

Crystal Web is absolute crap in the same league as Telkom, Afrihost and Web Africa.

I am now with Afrihost, as of the 7th of July.
The last couple of months were..... interesting.

Still have better service from CW than with AH a few years ago, and indeed no complaints at the moment, so I'll stick with them for as long as I have minimal issues. AH's support alone is enough reason for me not to go back, ever.

Likewise.
Still playing D3 with <180ms pings, and still getting line speed on downloads. I know there have been some issues, but support's been on the ball sorting them out.
I will never ever forget afrihost "testing something" with their uncapped accounts restricted to 12.5% HTTP, 6.5% P2P 18 hours a day.

It's not so much fanboyism as it is simply an issue that doesn't affect all customers.

I'm well aware of how poor CW's network is performing for loads of customers, but my Openserve fibre has been unaffected it seems.

Yup. I do online racing to Europe all through the year, so far not a single lag moment or anything in over 2 years, except around Sept. last year, which they helped escalate to Telkom, with Telkom very much being the bottleneck.

Not saying CW is perfect, but so far they have very much been the best of a bad bunch, in my personal experience.

I remember that testing day vaguely - did they throttle the hell out of uncapped business as well? Can't remember well.

For me the endless loop of testing and never getting any feedback or results on something that's broken, was my biggest gripe with AH. For 4 months I had the worst streaming you could imagine - and nobody could tell me why, and every time I asked for feedback, they just asked me to run the tests again.

Finally got gatvol and after moving to CW, my streaming has been flawless 99.9% of the time.

Yeah. So I should say CW is **** now because others are having issues? Well it's not good, but until their service gets any worse than other ISPs, I'm sticking around. But I'm not vouching for them any more either, people need to make their own minds up.

such strong words. Are you this disgusted with the likes of Afrihost ignoring complaints? Openweb? Telkom?

I had really excellent service from them since I joined, and I really tried everything I could to get my issue resolved.
That is why I will also not badmouth them, it was just an unfortunate case where we could not reach agreement.

Luckily one thing our country is not short of is ISP's...

Yep, but the issue for me is... If there really is a better ISP in SA at the moment, I'd love to hear it, and I'll move there ASAP.

I was actually considering VOX over the weekend, but then I read on here that they also went for a ball of poo (unsure if it's temporary or long term, didn't care much which tbh), so I just remained where I am.

Of course I'm not a fanboy of any ISP, I just move wherever the service is the best.

Yep, Afrihost is even worse, their mods censor clients. Cant speak for the others.

Seriously? I post my own user experience, just like I did when I was with Telkom Internet since dial-up days. Right now I have an issue with speed tests reflecting different results but it has not impacted my service. I have raised it with CW as it would appear to be a peering issue somewhere... am waiting for feedback. see for yourself:
