Hi folks
I would firstly like to make it clear that it is not really my place to interfere with the MyWireless forums and related issues. I am not a MyWireless user and there are definitely enough proactive and knowledgeable members to drive wireless broadband issues
) Having said this I think it is great that a variety of broadband users make use of the MyADSL forums. This makes us as a broadband community very strong! It is common knowledge that Telkom, Sentech and other players closely follow these forums and that the views expressed on this forum increasingly play a role in their decision making.
I have been following the discussions regarding the CUG and related issues. There seems to be some unhappiness regarding the information flow and representation of this forum in discussions with Sentech. My own opinion is that a dedicated CUG can be a valuable tool to negotiate with Sentech and try to solve the problems experienced by the rest of the MyWireless users. In most of my meetings with Telkom I am either alone or accompanied by only a secretary to take notes. It is therefore not unlike the CUG meeting. Recently I had a few ‘off the record’ meetings where I am simply not allowed to share the information on a public forum, but in all of this the MyADSL members can be assured that I fight their case and that I have no hidden agenda!
Back to the issue at hand… I think some of the main questions regarding the CUG, meetings with Sentech etc. revolve around:
1. Are the MyADSL-MyWireless members represented by anybody?
2. Will the CUG be interested to represent the MyADSL-Mywireless members?
There are obviously other issues that will follow these questions, but I think the discussion will touch on these issues anyway. I can say that, although I am not a Mywireless user, I have a great deal of trust in the Mods & other members of the CUG (the ones that I know off) to do things in the interest of the users and hence MyADSL members. I think it will be great if the current CUG can represent MyADSL, but this might not be suitable to their needs…
A united front is beneficial to everybody and your suggestions on how it can be achieved and what you would like to see are most welcome.
Regards,
RPM
