I however decided on Indian engineering because it rolls off the tongue nicely, similar to how (during the life flashing before your eyes stage) every memory you have will roll away nicely as each respective part of your brain is crushed to a fine paste during an accident in a GO.

Close... the Playa was a Seat Ibiza, the Classic was a Córdoba.

I don't even remember a Classic in the Playa eta.

Either way I bet both those Seats are the same platform anyway.

I could have sworn it was the Córdoba though as it looked like the rally car.

That's an Indian spec figo.

SA ones all have airbags.

The passenger compartment was fine in the above test. It failed because there was no airbags.
The car has a score rated 0 because it lacks airbags? I highly doubt omitting airbags leads to a score of 0.It must be due to other reasons aswell?

I got a new Sandero Expression today as a courtesy car since my Megane is in for a scheduled service.

I am surprisingly impressed with the car as a whole unit considering it's price is R129k.
The 900cc turbo is much more responsive that the older 1.2 16v Renault unit it replaced. It got a raspy engine noise to boot when you push it a bit!

Gearbox is a bit sloppy and is something to getting used to. Toyota owners will however be at home with it. :whistling:

Furthermore since this is a thread about budget cars, Paarl Renault offered a guaranteed R30k trade assistance on the Sandero a while back for any vehicle that's license is up to date and that drove to the show room on its own.

Nope, airbags are that critical. The Indian-spec VW Polo sedan also scored 0 initially; it was then pulled from the market, given airbags, and awarded a 4-star score after retesting.
